That was more a hostel than a hotel of the Marriott Bonvoy group. Really disappointed. The front office team was a kinda rude, instead of getting a warm welcoming and an introoduction about the hotel they just put the card machine in front of you to pay. As an ambassador you normally get an upgrade to suite, not at Protea Stellenbosch. The only thing they offered as an old bigger guest room, not acceptable at all. Even if the hotel is fully booked, someone should get back to you at the next day and check the options again, not professional at all. At the breakfast they offer some cheap range of cold cuts and cold boiled eggs. (Egg station is avaiable as well if you wanna wait 10 minutes in the line). Staff doesnt pay attention at all if you wanna order a fresh coffee, thats different in other protea hotels, for example the fire and ice and cape town. The pool bar was closed and the pool was not clean, a No Go if you offer those services. The bar should be opened until 10:30 PM but the waiters wanna close already at 10:10 PM. Overall lazy staff and a real bad management neither in F and B or FO department.
