Thalassi Hotel

My 4th time at this lovely friendly hotel. My friends and I were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived. It has such a personal touch especially by the fact we were taken by Dimitri to his local village for lunch making our stay extra special. Can't fault the food both at breakfast and evening meal - authentically Greek and very tasty. The rooms are spotlessly clean. A big thank you to Dimitri, Eva, Anthony,Michael and Stefi. The hotel is so well run by Eva and Demitris and Stefi. The hotel was spotless and the breakfast offering was huge and delicious. Their restaurant is a 7/8 minute walk or short shuttle with Pablo and the views from the restaurant are spectacular. You can get around Crete with a very efficient bus service and bus stop a few minutes from the hotel. What really set this hotel apart from many is the hospitality. Demitris cares about all of his guests and as I was travelling solo, he always made sure that I was with other guests at dinner if I wanted to be. He is passionate about his hotel and his restaurant and wants everyone to have the best time. Eva (his wife) is similarly caring and I came away feeling that I was part of a very special extended family. I met many guests who return year after year and I can see why. ❤️

Our litmus test for any hotel is ‘Will we choose to return?’ YES, we will! Hotel is comfortable, well maintained, clean and the proprietors and staff are all friendly, helpful and kind. Our room was modern and spacious, the bathroom had quality fixture and fittings and the balcony overlooked the pool area. Breakfast buffet was substantial with a good choice of hot and cold dishes. Evening meal at the Thalassi restaurant - overlooking the bay - was freshly cooked, nutritious and delicious. Very many thanks to Dimitri, Eva and the team - We’ll be back next year!

Our latest stay after several previous visits. I had the misfortune to suffer a fall and a cut to the head requiring a trip to hospital by ambulance. On return, with a dressing and staples in my cut, I receives so much help and care from the hotel staff that I am sure I would not have received in a much larger hotel. As usual, we enjoyed the fabulous hospitality of Eva, Demitri and the team. May thanks to you all and see you again next year.

This hotel is one I will never visit again. The entrance to the hotel is up 6 steps with no hand rail which I had trouble navigating as i am slightly disabled, we were shown to our room which was situated on the ground floor although we had to get up 3 very high steps with no hand rails on entering the room there was only a double bed ( which could not be split into 2 singles)with a large sofa bed. The wet room floor when wet and slippery when shower was used again no grab rail, hooks inside the shower Ro towels but got wet when using the shower. There was a continuous dreadful foul smell if the window was left open I remarked on it to the owner she said she would get the plumber to have a look but never did) Even the person in the adjoining room complained, it could be smelt around the bar at odd times. The breakfast was very poor with very little choice. The toaster didn’t work properly, burnt or not at all. A mini bus was laid on if you didn’t or couldn’t walk that far again very limited choice & you had to use your plate several times, I asked for a clean plate as i had olive oil on it from my salad I was told I couldn’t have one, also deserts were like I had at school dinners ( jelly in a plastic dish or cold rice pudding + watermelon. To order a drink before Our meal took 20 minutes as I had to ask 3 times. Our room was only serviced alternate days. ( other hotels I’ve used they were done every day) The noise from the bar was a problem as we were disturbed several times over the period were there with people still at the bar at 2.30am & people singing right outside our door, when I complained the owner said people come to enjoy a holiday so I had to put up with it( our room was less than 40feet from the bar) I could not get in the pool as the metal steps into it were to far apart for me to asses it due to my mobility ( other people also complained about it so I had to cool of in the children’s paddling pool. I’ve used 3 star hotels in the past which I’ve never had a problem with but this hotel doesn’t deserve 3 stars. In reception there is a certificate for excellence dated 2015.but nothing since. The only good thing from this holiday was the people we met and we found a nice place to eat, the food was excellent

We stayed for 10 days. The hotel is clean and the rooms very spacious. Eva Dimtris and Antony nothing was to much trouble always there with advice and help. Dimitris was a wonderful host in the restaurant, catering all diets and was very proud of his establishment
