The Historic Inn at Oakdene

While the property is lovely and the stay has been nice, I will say that the information provided before finalizing the booking was missing pertinent information. There was no mention of the two sets of stairs at the front entrance. There was no mention of receiving a code for entry to property until after I booked a non-refundable booking. I had sent a query to the property but did not receive an answer before booking later the same day (the day of arrival). I did book through a third party—Expedia—as I typically do since I use apps such as these to look through all properties to see what is available in areas I am not familiar with. I am aware that self-catering facilities such as Air Bnb and VRBO are represented on these sites, but this being an inn, I did not equate it with one of those. However, it is. There is no staff on the property as far as I could tell. Therefore, I left no rating for staff and services. There is no one to greet you or get you additional towels, blankets, etc. there is no breakfast, though there is an area where you can make coffee and tea and access some snacks. While these things are not expected at a self-catering facility, there was nothing to suggest this “inn” was such. Bottom line, our stay was very nice. The property is quite lovely. The rooms are comfortable. The home is beautifully restored and appointed (there’s even a pool table and lovely porch with swing). In my opinion, more information should be provided before booking.

The BEST place I’ve ever stayed. This was THE best place I have ever stayed. I was traveling with my four kiddos and husband and there was plenty of space for us. The free snacks and ice cream made the stay for them memorable. The building itself had been beautifully restored and the space is huge. There is a great quiet and picturesque place to read and a beautiful old library with a gorgeous pool table for some fun. I can’t wait to go back! Beds were super comfortable and everything was spotless. I can’t recommend this place enough!
