The hotel needs some investment and updating if it is going to keep up with the next door, newly renovated Margaritaville. While the elevators and public areas are attractive, many things keep me for giving it a higher rating. The room furniture felt worn and dated and the bedding/pillows felt soft. The TV screen and picture quality and channel selection all felt like a budget motel. The towels lost their fluff long ago. The coffeemaker is a one cup pouch style with very average taste (so we bring instant Starbucks Via to give it more flavor). Rooms get housekeeping every 3rd day. There is a resort fee and a parking fee. Each time we exited or entered it seemed like someone was having a problem with the parking gates. The hot tub was broken (just like the last time we stayed here) and the indoor pool is very small. Room is dark at night so leave the curtain cracked open or bring a night light. If you are Diamond with Caesars Rewards, they waive the resort fee and parking fee and provide water at check-in. The Laurel Lounge is permanently closed, however, so instead you can show your Diamond Plus players club card for 3 free drinks at the bar (not a great selection of wines or beers, unfortunately) and 1 free Starbucks drink (up to $10 value) per day. Weekdays different restaurants are closed on different days. El Jeffe, for example, is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The American River Grille is closed for dinners. On the plus side, WiFi worked well for up to 4 devices per room. The water pressure was good for both hot and cold. HVAC worked quietly. The room we were in (1319, "Executive King") had 2 bathrooms with a nice view of the lake and mountains. And the staff were very friendly at the VIP Registration Desk, housekeeping, restaurants, and bars.
