The top level features 2 bedrooms. One with a queen bed, private deck and attached half bathroom, is accessed through another bedroom. The second bedroom on this floor has a queen bed and a bunk bed with a double bed on the bottom and twin bed on the top. There is also a loft area - with a large sleeper chair and a desk for a dedicated office space - which is great for puzzles, games or curling up with a good book. The house has fast WiFi at 365 Mbps.The main floor has an open floor plan with a modern kitchen, dining table that expands to seat 8 (also 4 bar stools at the island) and living room. From the living room, sliding doors provide access to a large deck overlooking the water. Also on the main floor is a master bedroom with sunroom, large bathroom with jacuzzi tub, and additional full bathroom with laundry. The Game Room in the basement is fun for all with a pool table, Wii and Xbox 360. A half bathroom is also on the basement level. You are invited to visit our hobby farm and stay in an open, airy, well-appointed one-bedroom apartment inside an Amish-built barn. In our rural area, the call of songbirds or lowing of cows is the loudest thing you will hear. Our property is completely solar-powered, with our own array of 39 solar panels on the roof of the barn. We provide a fully stocked kitchen for your breakfast, including oatmeal, english muffins, yogurt, butter, coffee and tea, and, of course, fresh eggs from our chickens. We have a small pool on site and are in a great location between the Adirondack Mountains, St. Lawrence River, and the Thousand Islands region.Our brand-new apartment is located on the second floor of our Amish-built barn. The front door and wood porch lead into a large foyer where you can leave your shoes and coats. Walk upstairs and you've got an open floor plan with amazing views of the countryside from decks on both the front and rear of the barn. The very large barn-width rear deck is the place to be to watch the sunset on warm evenings, while you scan the meadow for white-tailed deer, porcupine, and coyote, while listening to the meadowlarks and savannah sparrows.Inside the space, we offer one bedroom with a new Tuft and Needle queen-size bed, plus two more sleeping areas in shared space. The very large three-piece couch easily sleeps two adults, and the twin futon can sleep a small adult or child. Our kitchen has a two-burner electric cooktop, toaster oven, microwave oven, coffee maker, and small fridge/ freezer for your pleasure, plus a small kitchen table as well as bar seating. We love the locally-cut white pine butcher block counter top! The open floor plan with exposed beams is pleasing to the eye, and our ceramic tile shower stall will make you linger. Most of the decorations in the apartment come from our travels in South and Central America, East Africa, and Indonesia.The upstairs guest space and foyer are entirely private. We are happy to give you a tour of our farm and animal areas. In the summer and fall, please feel free to wander through the large vegetable garden. We live on-site and will be doing what we do on any given day, including farm animal care. We are happy to orient you to the area, show you the amazing views and talk about local wildlife and village life, or give you a tour of our farm.Our home is close to wonderful sites for adventure, in every season. In the winter, use your cross-country skis on the St. Lawrence University golf course right in the village of Canton, or go into the Adirondacks for a skiing or snowshoeing adventure. In the summer, there are miles of rivers and lakes to explore by canoe and kayak. Beth's Place- celebrating 12 years in business in 2026 - is a luxurious, self-contained apartment with a separate entrance for maximum privacy. It is spacious, tastefully furnished, and conveniently located within 1 mile of downtown Potsdam. Our guests can also enjoy the scenic Raquette River, with free kayaks available for use. For those seeking extra indulgence, the apartment also features a private hot tub – exclusively for our guests' use!Welcome to Beth's Place, a private space on the first level of our home. You will find a cozy and comfortable queen-size bed in the bedroom, a spacious living room with a queen-size sleeper sofa, a well-equipped kitchen with an apartment size stove, a medium-sized refrigerator, dishes, silverware, baking dishes, cookie sheets, a dining area, and even a gas grill for outside cooking. Our lovely full bathroom comes with towels, washcloths, and basic toiletries. The unit has a private entrance and ample parking, and for larger groups, we can accommodate up to six people with the addition of our new bunkroom (finished 2/2026) along with the queen-size sleeper sofa. For your convenience, there is also a washer and dryer in the unit. Our guests will have access to two private outside sitting areas, one out front facing the new pickleball court and the putting green, and one private space out back with a grill and a private hot tub along with a river view. The hot tub (open year-round) is not shared with anyone else but current guests of the unit. The igloo, outback, is open year-round for guests to enjoy, with string lights, seating, and a heater for the cold months. Please note that the igloo, putting green, pickleball court, beach area, and kayaks are shared with our other unit, Beth's Place II, on the same property as Beth's Place. If you were looking for different dates that Beth's Place isn't available or to accommodate more people, feel free to check out Beth's Place II.Our property offers an array of amenities, including a new pickleball court (installed 10/2023), a putting green in the front yard, a hiking/ski trail, and the Raquette River out back. The trail down to the river has handrails where it can be a bit steep, along with some stairs and a bridge. We also have kayaks and a fire pit down by the river for guests to enjoy, along with a private beach. Our stretch of the Raquette River goes all the way to downtown Potsdam, where you can park your kayak and explore the town before kayaking back home. Please note that kayaking is usually available from May through November, and the putting green is covered once it snows. Beth's Place II is a beautifully furnished apartment that was built in March 2020. It is located above our garage and offers complete privacy. The apartment has one bedroom with a comfortable queen-size bed, a living room with a twin-size sleeper sofa, and a full-size Murphy bed that can be pulled down as needed. The well-equipped kitchen features a full-size stove, a dining area, and everything you need to prepare a meal. There is also a lovely full bathroom with a washer and dryer, towels, washcloths, and basic toiletries. The apartment has a private entrance with 14 steps leading up to the front door and has ample parking spaces.Guests can relax and unwind in their private outdoor space, complete with a hot tub and stunning river views. The outdoor area also features chairs, a fire pit, a grill, and beautiful lights at night. Our property itself is also quite lovely, and guests are welcome to use our brand-new pickleball court installed in September 2023, and the putting green in the front yard. The Raquette River, which flows right behind our house, is also available for our guests. The trail leading down to the river has handrails to make it easier to navigate, and we also provide kayaks and a fire pit down by the river for our guests. Our stretch of the Raquette River flows all the way to downtown Potsdam, making it an excellent opportunity to kayak there and explore the town.
