The Great room with it's soaring ceilings, wood floors, massive rock wall and wall of windows offers plenty of space to gather in front of the fire and the large dining table expands to seat up to 12 people. The Great room wraps into the nicely appointed kitchen with lots of counter space, seating for 4 at the bar and all your food prep necessities. The large master bedroom on the ground floor has a king bed and large private bath with oversized tub, separate shower and double sinks. Sleeps 6-8.The Cottage is 1400 sq ft with 2 bedrooms and 1 full bathroom. It has 2 screened porches, 1 off the bedroom and 1 is in the back with a table seating 4. The dining room table seats 6. There is an additional outside table for 4 in the French garden as well as a large gas grill. Sleeps 6.The Bunkhouse is a newly renovated farmhouse with a living room area, kitchenette and 2 bedrooms with a total of 3 bunk beds and 1 captain bed. There is also 1 full bathroom and outdoor patio area. Sleeps 7-8.The wellness area is located 400 ft downhill from the main house and 500 ft uphill from the cottage. This area includes a 75 ft lap pool, 8 person jacuzzi, wood burning sauna imported from Finland, cabana with toilet, sink and shower (bathroom 4), outdoor seating for 14, a large gas grill and a 400 sq ft fully equipped gym with A/C and heating.Starview Ranch is a working ranch and is home to 3 cows plus an apiary with active beehives situated well away from the dwellings.There are several trails and interesting things to see around Starview Ranch. Feel free to explore around the property but keep a safe distance from the bee hives at the apiary. Also, the fence surrounding the apiary is electrified.The main driveway along the property is an access road to a neighboring property. No one is currently living there but rarely a vehicle may drive through.The "sunset spot" near the garden is the perfect place to enjoy views of gorgeous sunsets over Squaw valley (even better with a glass of wine).This is also an ideal location for a small wedding venue. The fireplaces, sauna and fire pit should not be used during summer months when the fire risk is high. The gas BBQ grills at the wellness area and at the cottage can be used year-round. I would like to remind guests that this property is out in the beautiful wilderness. You are in the great outdoors and may encounter wildlife. If doors or windows (without screens) are left open these critters and many bugs tend to find their way in. I recommend only opening up the screened windows and ensuring doors are not left open. Also, no matter how rigorously the homes are cleaned (and I take cleaning very seriously) there may be some dead bugs or a small cobweb that was created in the short time from cleaning to your check in... again this is just a fact of life on a 50 acre ranch in the middle of nowhere.Starview Ranch is located in a remote area in the Sierra Nevada foothills. The drive to the property from either Kings Canyon Drive or from 245 involve curvy mountain roads with switchbacks and sharp turns which can also be narrow in some places. Also, the drive to Kings Canyon National Park is a windy mountain road.Other things to note:The 3 cows on the property will keep their distance but are generally friendly. They will be even more friendly if you offer them apples ;)Also, the cow pies are just part of the charm of life at Starview Ranch. Also, the driveway is an easement road to the neighboring property. No one lives there but an occasional vehicle may pass through.One last piece of advice:Pack and wear clothes that you don't mind getting a little dusty/ dirty. In the winter, children can sled right outside the downstairs sliding doors and then come inside and warm up next to the fireplace. Or enjoy your time skiing at China Peak, only 21 miles up the road from our home. When there isn't snow there is lots of runaround space in the gated neighborhood. Bring bikes and scooters, or set up a game of whiffle ball at the end of the cul-de-sac. In the summer, Shaver Lake Marina is 4 miles up the road.The outside is brought indoors with a 2400 sq. ft. reverse floor plan space featuring great views. Slate flooring and bathrooms, wood flooring in the common living area, knotty pine accents throughout the home, and handmade pine barnyard sliding doors as your gateway to the outdoors. Delight in the carefully curated decor of handmade and vintage pieces, mid-century modern furnishings, and rustic elements reminiscent of an old mountain home. The upstairs Master Suite also has a gas fireplace, jacuzzi tub, dual walk-in slate shower and a king size bed. There are two bedrooms downstairs with a full bathroom located in the downstairs hallway. All comforters are 100% down with duvet covers. Linens and towels are provided.This is a quiet neighborhood with only a few rentals. This is a single-family home rental with HOA rules that are expected to be honored. We feel very blessed to have this as our vacation home and ask that renters be considerate to not just our home but also to our neighbors.
