Often deer and turkey will find their way to the field below the house and you will have the perfect sitting area to watch them feed and play. In the winter, pack your cold weather wear and go for a walk along the creek or up the logging trail for a view of the coulee below. Bring your snowshoes for a winter walk. Or if you prefer, go sledding on the hill in front of the house. (sleds provided). Whatever you choose to do, even if you stay indoors, you will enjoy the serenity of the valley.If you like to ski, we are located just a few minutes from Mt. La Crosse. If you are snowmobilers, the state trail is located less than a mile from the house and you can drive your snowmobile to the trail or drive your trailer to the trail, park and hop on from there.In warmer weather, you can enjoy walks along the creek looking for fish and beavers or take a walk up the logging trail and see if you can spot a deer or other wildlife. Pack a picnic lunch and sit down by the creek and enjoy the sounds of water flowing over the rocks and the other sounds of nature.At night, sit around the fire pit to relax and enjoy the outdoors.If you want to venture out, La Crosse, Coon Valley, Westby and Viroqua are just a few miles away and offer various fun activities, dining and unique shopping. As your Viroqua home away from home the Little Yellow House offers a central location and homey charm. The 10 ft ceilings, wood floors, and many windows make its 600 sq ft feel light and spacious. Whether you are fly fishing, taking in a dinner and a show at the Historic Temple Theater, doing a weekend class, or having a relaxing weekend walking around downtown Viroqua and the farmers market…the sweetest of home bases is the Little Yellow House.A dine-in kitchen has a wooden table under large South facing windows, where you can work, play a game or sip your morning cup of coffee. There are new appliances, a vintage farmhouse sink, a butcher block countertop and a fully stocked kitchen. Please let us know if you are missing something you need and we will bring it right over. The bathroom, while tiny, is bright and sunny with a low entry shower. There is no tub. The bedroom has a closet and dresser, and queen sized bed, with extra blankets. There are also black out shades for your dark sleeping enjoyment. The living room has a cozy sectional for you to curl up in the corner of with your favorite book, or borrow one from our collection. The second sleeping space is a pull out couch in the adjacent den. Perhaps this is obvious: we have space for 4 people-but this is only if they are able to sleep in a bed together. We do not have the space or the linens for people to not sleep in the beds. Please make sure if you are three or four adults you do not need individual sleeping spaces. Room to easily park a fishing boat or 2 or 3!See visitor's guide for places to eat in the small towns of Genoa, Stoddard, and DeSoto. Going fishing? Large turn around allows plenty of space to park and maneuver your fishing boat. Bikers: there is a garage where you can store your bikes overnight. The owners of this property grew up here! Children can catch fireflies at night like we did as children. Jar provided! (We always let fireflies go in the morning). Both adult and children's books in upstairs dresser. Beautiful views from all windows. Relax on one of the two newly remodeled porches, one open and the other screened in.
