Akrathos Beach Hotel

Really good stay The stay at Akrathos hotel was a great and pleasant surprise. We arrived with no/normal expectation(by travelling in Greece for 20years).We were captivated by the position and panorama.We got executive suite but most of the rooms are with seaview. The service was truly remarkable. The staff work hard to ensure our comfort and satisfaction throughout our stay. The room itself was spacious and elegantly furnished.. The beach is wonderful with plenty of sunchairs. The allinclusive is fair enough for the money you pay.

We stayed at this hotel for 10 nights in September 2024. The transfer is 2 hours and we were in a mini bus with no air conditioning so sweltering! Wish we had done our research better (our own fault not the hotels) - there was nothing around us and we like walking but really not anywhere to walk other than the highway. Our room was clean and comfortable and hot showers which was lovely. We had a lovely balloon gift on arrival in our room as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary - a nice thought. The pool area was nice although they did not open the pool until 10am each day and I do like to have an early morning swim before children and inflatables arrive! There were plenty of sunbeds to choose from and the beach was amazing - a bit of a walk so not for people with mobility issues. We were disappointed that the bar was downstairs as there is a lovely seating area in the reception area but if you wanted a drink you were up and down stairs! We have been to many 4 star hotels and have always had service at our table for drinks during meal times (breakfast and dinner) but here you do have to help yourself which for me does not make this a 4 star hotel. The food was very limited for vegetarians (which both my husband and I are). Overall we did have a pleasant stay but personally I would rate this a 3 star hotel mostly based on other 4 star hotels that we have stayed at.

I loved the hotel, it buildings are to quite a high standard. Rooms more than acceptable. A good size with air-conditioning, powerful shower, nicely decorated. Balcony had a beautiful view. The location is spectacular for me. I certainly would visit again. Down side - I felt the food let the hotel down. Although there was a good selection for all nationalities, the standard was not as I would expect. Even the local greek dishes lacked authenticity & flavour. It did feel that everything was done on the cheap. It's such a shame as it wouldn't take a huge change to have a dramatic impact on the overall impression of our visit. Food is such an important part of an all-inclusive holiday. However, you wouldn't go hungry. Drinks - as a non drinker, there were really no adult options available in the all-inclusive. It was 5€ for a non alcoholic beer at the time of our visit. Locally, the cost was 1.5€ for the same drink. The non alcoholic cocktails were limited & were just syrup & dispensed pop. Very sickly after a couple. It appears that alcoholic drinks were readily available & more than acceptable. The staff we encountered were exceptionally friendly & helpful & are an asset to the hotel. Local transport was great, local buses are a bargain but there is a limited timetable. Booked excursions on trip advisor rather than at the increased prices via the hotel (this is normal for any hotel and no reflection on this hotel at all). The pool was a little chilly, but I felt it was superb. I do recommend this hotel.

First time trying all inclusive, a beautiful part of the country and a spacious clean hotel. Food- plenty of fresh ingredients and a good selection of salads, breads etc. A good way to get the best out of the food is to walk around and plan a meal otherwise you might end up with a mishmash on a plate. Take a good luck at the many condiments which can really enhance your meal. We had 3 or 4 small courses for our evening meal, nothing ran out so you can take your time . Note cups in rooms are small so consider taking a mug and you’ll have to buy milk in the on site shop 3.20 euro. The A.I. drinks- beer is 3% which is refreshing but not the best, we found the rose to be the best of the wines, the spirits aren’t recognised brands but are plentiful at the pool and main bars. Cocktails a bit syrupy. Not grown up! The only pool is unheated, the beach is easily accessible and beautiful with crystal clear, warm water. It’s well worth taking a mask and snorkel. Sadly there were a few cigarette butts around in places but overall it felt clean. Keep the scrap of paper if you hire the beach towels as you need to get it signed to redeem your deposit. The rooms are fine, take insect repellent as mosquitoes enter the room when the cleaners have the door open for some time while cleaning, especially if the room is near the stairs. The beds are comfortable and the shower is good. There are 2 boat hire facilities, we used the right hand one looking out to sea, they aren’t affiliated to the hotel and seem to charge 30euro for fuel no matter how far you go! The staff are very friendly and most speak 3 languages fluently.

Cons. Transfer takes 1.30hrs. The children pool no very clean as you can see by the photo. I would suggest that the alleged Lifeguard rather than sit at the bar all day he cleans it. unfortunately from the infinity pool you can't see the sea very well because the glass is dirty. PROS. Beautiful hotel. Gardens full of olive trees that are picked in November and make oil for the hotel. Also pomme granates that are also used for the hotel. There is a supermarket in the hotel. The hotel provides a bus service to the near village ten minutes away the charge is ten euros return per person.....but you can get a taxi for 7 euros each way for four people. Food very good and tasty plenty to suit every palate. Big thanks to Eduardo Antonia and the team for their hard work. Plenty of beer and wine etc Plenty of sun loungers by the pool and in the sandy beach and beautiful clear waters, but my favourite has to be ELENI the young bartender at the beach. She always smiles and very polite even when some rude clients wouldn't say please or thanks. Plenty of locals drinks if you want some international drinks you would have to pay. Very nice location. We had a nice holiday. The hotel is pretty much what it says on the tin. We were fortunate enough to be upgraded to a superior suite although it was a bit of hike to the accommodation at the top of the hill. The room was very nice and clean with 2 bathrooms. Being on the ground floor though it did feel like you were staying in an Olive grove and spoiled the view a bit but can’t complain as I’d booked the cheaper garden room and had been upgraded. There was Snake repellent in the gardens but didn’t see any. The hotel is set on a hillside with lovely views out to see and lots of fruit and olive trees all about. It was very tempting to pinch a few pomegranates bit didn’t. Nice pool area. The pool itself is 33mts long and quite deep. Perfect for swimming lengths. A bit cool but didn’t feel it when you got started. Lots of people are negative about the AI drinks and to be fair they are bang average for AI. Similar to other Greek 4 Star we have stayed in. The only real negative I can say is that The Restaurant has a bit of a Works Canteen feeling to it. The hotel is a bit remote. The nearest town is Ouranoupoli which is 1 and 3 quarter miles away not 2km. Well worth a visit. Lots of shops and restaurants and had a nice feel to it. Boats trips here as well. The road is not that dangerous and it’s easily walkable. We did it 3 times without issues and we are in our sixties. The nearest supermarket is here with good prices. The one in the hotel is mega expensive. If we come to this area again we would probably stay in the town as there are some lovely apartments there and close to amenities. All in all a good stay. Try to ignore the negative reviews everything is pretty good really.
