Like something out of a Disney movie
A truly fantastic stay - excellent service from the moment we arrived. Was given heaps of helpful information including advice on where and how to park. The hotel is slap bang in the middle of the most picturesque place we have ever been. The room was traditionally Austrian (no A/C but manageable) with a welcome gift on the pillow and discounts for the local area emailed shortly after check in. The hotel provides coffee and pastries in the lounge in the afternoon and the breakfast was perfect with a huge selection (including an omelette stay) - the highlight was meeting Simba the furry mascot although each and every member of the team went above and beyond.

We were back in the Hotel Zimmerbräu this year, for the first time in about 15 years. It’s still a great hotel, in a great village in a fabulous location. Hans and Alex are great hosts, and go out of their way to look after you. Fabulous little touches, great room, helpful staff. You couldn’t really ask for more. It’s the third time we’ve been to the hotel over the years. Highly recommend it to anyone in the area.

This family owned hotel, Hotel Zimmerbrau in St. Wolfgang, Austria was a welcome reprieve from the bustle of other parts of Europe. This hotel is situated on a lake and surrounded by majestic mountains. There is convenient parking, balcony rooms, breakfast included and is nestled in the heart of this beautiful town. Restaurants are easily located within walking distance. There are quaint shops, gorgeous vistas, and various trails to hike the Alps. A band plays in the town a few nights a week with dancing and cultural music. The family is so personable and helped with my rental car - reading the German car manual to help me put the right "petro" in at the gas station! The staff made "to order" omelets at breakfast. There was hot tea or coffee and pastries every afternoon. The owner even did some laundry for me at a very reasonable rate. They guided us to an appropriate level and distance hike in the Alps. This family was so kind and went out of their way to help us at every turn. I would HIGHLY recommend you stop at Hotel Zimmerbrau in St. Wolfgang for some restorative time in the Alps.

Zimmerbrau is a wonderful traditional Austrian hotel. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful with any questions, and they print up a newsletter you can read each day during breakfast with suggestions for things to do and current events. Speaking of breakfast, it seems Austrian hotels compete with one another to see who can offer the best breakfast, and Zimmerbrau is among the best. They have a nice buffet with good rolls/bread, a nice selection of meats, cheeses, and beautiful cut-up fruit, made-to-order eggs/omelets, nice coffee/tea, and more. The breakfast room is gorgeous, with traditional wood paneling and leaded-glass windows. The entire hotel is spotless, and you will see the staff busy cleaning during the day. Or room had a balcony, a unique round bed, and a modern clean bathroom. The location is superb, right in the middle of the old town, with excellent restaurants within a block or two in all directions. The hotel has a very pleasant and well-shaded private enclosed “beach” a few hundred feet from the hotel, with recliners, a self-service fridge with drinks, and paddle boards and a paddle boat available free to guests. St Wolfgang is by far the nicest and most happening town on the Wolfgangsee, so this is the place to be. The hotel is within walking distance of the Postbus stop and ferry stop in case you don’t have a car (we didn’t). Last but not least, the price was right. Zimmerbrau is a good value.
