Strandhotel Margaretha

Had a wonderful week at Strand hotel Margaretha. We stayed bed and breakfast and there was an excellent variety of options every morning. We had a lovely room which was spotlessly clean. All the staff very attentive. Wonderful decking area on the edge of the lake with comfortable sunloungers which all seemed new . There were 2 rowing boats and several paddle boards all free for guests to use. We had a couple of wet days and they even had plenty of umbrellas for guests to borrow!! Situated about 5 minutes from the centre of St Wolfgang which was a lovely walk at the lakes edge. Would recommend

Delizioso hotel frontelago a pochi minuti a piedi dal centro, parcheggio, titolari e personale gentilissimi ed efficienti, pulitissimo, bella stanza con terrazza colazione ottima e cena superlativa. Dimenticavo in stanza si trova una borsa con gli asciugamani per la spiaggia che è privata ed attrezzata. In definitiva un piacevolissimo soggiorno, soprattutto dopo l’esperienza pessima al 4 stelle Imlauer di Salisburgo che non recensisco per pietà!

My wife and I booked the Strandhotel Margaretha as a package holiday through TUI in the UK, we paid a little extra for a front lakeside view room and were not disappointed. The room was spacious, recently refurbished with large comfortable bed and new bathroom with over bath shower, all very clean and fresh. We had booked a dinner, bed and breakfast package and again were very impressed the the amount and quality of the food served. The staff also deserve a mention as we found them all to be extremely friendly and professional, always willing to go the extra and gave good recommendations on the food and where to visit in the local region. There is a large lakeside area opposite the hotel with many beds, stand up paddle boards, rowing boats and inflatables all free to use in the surprisingly warm lake. The only thing I would like to see added to the hotel is air conditioning to the bedrooms as the room did get extremely warm at times. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we will be looking at booking again

We stayed three nights at this hotel on our first visit to Salzkammergut. The hotel has a nice location, a short walking distance from the village, and very near the funicular train to go up the mountain and a stop of the boats that cross the lake. Our room was small but had a nice balcony and view to the lake. The breakfast is acceptable (choice and quality) for the price, but the buffet is too small for the number of people. You sometimes have to “queue” to get what you want from the buffet. This is compensated by the large and beautiful terrace with view on the lake where you eat your breakfast. We found the restaurant really good and were surprised diners were only hotel guests as the price quality is very competitive with other places in the village (and the terrace makes the experience nice). The “beach” on the other side of the street was never overcrowded and has some SUPs for the guests. A less positive point is the parking which is too small when the hotel is full. They reimburse if you have to park in the nearby public parking, but we found the parking experience stressing, with guests parking outside the lines or taking two places instead of one for their expensive car. There is a charging station which you can reserve and costs a forfeit of 20 euro for the day.
