My wife and I recently spent two nights at the Murray Premises to say we were disappointed would be an understatement. The ventilation system was filthy as were the carpets especially in the corners. The television was down parts of both days and ice maker was down on our floor. No grab bars in the very high bath tub is a definite hazard.( I have M.S.). Front desk staff were not helpful. When we went looking for ice we were told to go to the second floor, not we will get you some and bring it to your room or wait here we will get it for you.

We stayed at 2 different times during our stay in the city. The first time we stayed on the 4th floor in the older side of the building. It has a slanted ceiling so you need to be short! There is beam in front of the bathroom door so if you go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, you will run right into it. Very dangerous. The room is very dark and has only 2 little windows. The condenser is always on so there is noise all night long. The breakfast consists of muffins, yogurt and juice. The room is very small so you have to take it back to the room. The ice machine has been broken for awhile on the 3rd floor so you have to get ice on the 2nd floor. There is no elevator to the 4th floor in the old building. The second time we stayed in the newer side of the 4th floor. The fan ran constantly all night and we had to change rooms to get sleep. To get ice, you have to go to the older building on the 2nd floor for ice. Elevators do go up to the 4th floor with the newer building. On the positives, there is ample parking. Great location for walking to restaurants. Staff is very nice.

This hotel needs to train their front staff. They are curt and not very friendly (both on calling to book the room and upon our arrival and departure). Friends left a message for us that they didn't even pass on. You can tell a lot about a place upon check-out when they don't even ask how your stay was. The rooms and decor are in serious need of updating. It feels like they just don't care any more. Stayed a couple of times in the past, won't stay again.

Check-in was very quick. The desk staff were helpful with showing us where the laundry services were and with restaurant recommendations. The room was very large and comfortable. We would stay here again if we come back to St. John’s.

This is a wonderful historic building, right across from the water front, and walking distance to many attractions. Our room was very clean, everything we needed. The bonus was the continental breakfast that we ate in the courtyard. The staff were very helpful with directions and suggestions. While the hotel is not considered accessible, due to the historic nature, there is an elevator for guests with mobility issues. We stayed two nights, and would recommend to friends and family.

Lovely hotel, great for honeymooners and newlyweds. We had our wedding in the Gypsy Tea Room restaurant which is right next door. Clean, spacious room and lots of amenitiies. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Also located in the centre of downtown St. John's with lots to see and do, especially in the summer.

We had a really good experience except for the part when our truck was broken into while parked in the Hotel parking lot. The windows were smashed, my purse and computer bag was stolen. After the incident, the hotel agreed to allow us to park by the front for the remainder of our stay (it was a 3 night stay). Unfortunately, their CCTV cameras were substandard and was going to be replaced at a later date. Perhaps they should be replacing them ASAP for the safety of their clients. The room we had was amazing and spacious and they were very accomodating regards to the parking situation.

Creatures like insects and rodents are allowed in the room 317. Not clean room. lots of noise from the street. Stay away from the "boutik". We run away from it after creatures started the party at midnight. To be fair the staff was professional to allow us to escape.

This is very hard for me to do, and I did give the hotel a heads up about my actions for this review but it was met with no support. When I addressed the issue of a mouse in our room a young girl from receptionist brought up 2 sticky pads to catch the mouse. We never heard an "I am sorry from anyone". No complimentary bottle of wine or Tim's card or discount. I was given an excuse that they can't do anything because we booked third party. Plus the comment was made that this happens. Really!! We don't care how we booked because bottom line we are there to enjoy our time away. I spent most of my night listening for a mouse to be struggling to free itself from the glue. Customer Service told me that we were offered another room but that was a lie. We weren't offered this, and we are not sure if we would have taken up the offer. A mouse or mice can travel throughout the whole hotel. We never or heard from the pest company either. Hopefully this won't happen to anyone else but thought we should mention it. This is my first review that is not positive ever.
