Thyme

Our stay at Thyme was more than we could have dreamt of. The estate is beautiful, quaint, quiet and just lovely. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The food was amazing- everything from breakfast lattes, lunch to dinner plates and cocktails. The best touch was every time we left our cottage for an outing or to go eat, we came back to a made bed, clean towels and fresh water awaiting us when we returned to our room. I have never stayed at a place that was so professional with their room cleaning services, as Thyme was. I was so so impressed by this!! It truly made such a difference in our stay. We did classes at the cookery school and a spa day at the meadow spa- highly recommend both. Everything about this place was amazing, I can not recommend it enough.

The hotel and grounds are lovely and the staff very welcoming. We stayed in river mint and there seemed to be some sort of issue with the lights where they flickered all the time very annoying. The food and drink were lovely but extremely overpriced. A meal for two with a bottle of wine £270!! Service charge gets added to your bill as well another £30 as if we haven’t paid enough already as the rooms are highly expensive. We had a facial booked each was lovely but that was another £290. My girlfriend is gluten free and told the staff at breakfast this. She ordered granola and the waitress said she wasn’t sure if it was gluten free and we were going to share. When another waitress bought it over she asked her is this gluten free and she replied yes so she started eating it. Then the original waitress rushed over and said you can’t have it as not gluten free. Very poor really good job she doesn’t have a severe allergy. Then to top it all off after we left she was messaged to say we had taken a pair of socks and could she ring up and pay for them. She didn’t even know there were socks available. Don’t where we could have taken them from? We will certainly not be returning!!

My wife and I dropped into the Baa Bar at 15.00 today for a cup of tea and a coffee, we had visited the establishment some years ago for dinner, as we were in the vicinity we decided to pay a quick visit with a view to book a weekend stay there in the near future. The girl who took our order for a pot of Tea and a Latte was pleasant and professional, she did ask if we were staying there but I explained that we were just passing by for a drink. I paid in full for the drinks at the point of order. The restaurant and the bar was not busy at all, however we waited almost 40 minutes for our drinks to arrive, when they were served there was no apology at all offered for the amount of time we waited for the drinks, quite what took so long is mystery as no explanation was given! The establishment is pleasing to the eye in appearance but has a soulless atmosphere, almost sterile in our opinion. The quality of the drinks and presentation was acceptable, but for £10.13 one would expect this to be the case! Needless to say based upon our recent experience today we will not be booking a weekend stay there. We live in the Cotswolds we are frequently dining out and staying at other venues in the area, we think that the service we received was extremely poor, underwhelmed is how we would describe our experience and we will definitely not be making a return visit.
