Kings Head Bawburgh

Had a really lovely nights stay at the King’s Head Bawburgh in The Langtry room with both dinner (not included) and breakfast. The Room - lovely and clean, beautifully decorated with gorgeous wooden beam and a gorgeous, deep, claw-footed bath. Although the room was small, the lovely high ceilings made it feel much bigger than it actually is. The bed was super comfy as were the pillows. I normally struggle to sleep when not in my own bed but I did actually sleep, which is remarkable! A couple of points for feedback, the chair for the dressing table is too big for the room and made manoeuvring around a bit awkward. The toilet also smelt a bit damp but we have recently a storm! Breakfast - The food was beautifully cooked. My husband’s fry up looked amazing and the bacon was properly cooked, none of this anaemic bacon rind nonsense! Eggs perfectly cooked and sausages lovely quality. I had the eggs Benedict, which was superb. My poached eggs were cooked to absolute perfection, the homemade hollandaise was lovely and it was a massive portion. Fresh coffee and juice was also perfect. Point for feedback - no butter with the toast and no choice of bread for the toast but that is being real picky. Dinner - also a wonderful meal. All quality ingredients, great portions for my small appetite and husband’s large one, as I could pick and mix for the 48.5 mile menu which I thought was brilliant. Super tasty, absolutely no complaints. We then had a drink outside in the courtyard area and I would say this little area could do with some love. It’s looking a bit tired and unloved and could be a brilliant additional feature. It was the hottest and longest day of the year and there was no one else out there when by rights it should have been busy. The biggest compliment overall though is that we can’t wait to return and we are hard customers to please!

Stumbled upon this little gem after golfing nearby. Staff accommodated us with a table outside to eat and were very welcoming. All our dishes were delicious and piping hot. Staff were very friendly although no one came back to take our desert order so we just went to the bar to pay and leave. Didn’t want to mark the place down because of one staff’s indiscretion .

Just back from a fabulous impromptu dinner at this lovely pub. The food was excellent, I had the hake dish and hubby had the King’s pie, so flavoursome and tasty and good portion size too. Topped off by the chocolate fondant (shared) which was out of this world 😋We both said it was the best meal we’d had for a while, and felt it good value considering the quality. We are fairly local so will be returning and recommending!

Food, atmosphere was amazing the lady who greeted and took us to our seat Ella was fantastic. Candy was great so was Mia Lexi Saffron and big shout out to the chefs Dom geoff and Josh who always do the best meals and presentation is immaculate. We sat outside and even got given blankets for comfort

Beautiful room! A great one night stay! We didn't venture outside of the hotel much but it was really nice having our own external front door. The room was amazing with a lovely bathroom. One thing to note... No radiator in the bathroom, just a heated towel rail. So the bathroom was cold. But plenty of radiators in the rest of the room. We were also lacking a kettle in the room and found the coffee machine a bit of a faff to use. Oh... And the smallest TV in the world. Made watching 1% Club almost impossible 😂 but still a lovely comfortable room.

Stayed at the kings head this week for 2 nights as we were attending a funeral nearby. The rooms are beautiful and very comfortable, albeit quirkily charming due to the age of the property. The food was just brilliant- delicious, good portions, and included a menu with ingredients sourced from nearby. The desserts in particular were scrumptious - I think the chef must love making them, they were memorable in terms of flavour, creativity and presentation - superb. However the best bit of our stay was the staff. Plenty of staff around and they were all so kind, attentive and friendly. I was here with my elderly mum and they bent over backwards to make her stay as comfortable as possible, which was very much appreciated.
