Gilpin Hotel & Lake House

就是比較好的民宿，説實話欣賞不來。 一個樓裏一間房，樓下是餐廳。

羅萊夏朵的酒店，但是定的時候衹有這個房間了，沒想到這麼小，有條件的還是定大點的吧，住着舒服，酒店樓下有米其林餐廳。

We visited Gilpin for 3 nights which was booked as part of their Minimoon package. My Wife was celebrating her Birthday and on arrival we were shown to a Junior Suite with Champagne, Flowers, Gilpin Spa Pack and a personal Hot Tub awaiting us. The room needed a little paint touch-up here and there (and around the Hot Tub) but nothing serious. From first entering the Hotel, every staff member we encountered was friendly and approachable and nothing was too much trouble. Special call-out to Grace, Andre and the Team who attended to our every need in the Dining room and to Emily and Charlotte on Reception. We dined at the Asian-themed Spice restaurant on our first night and we were so impressed - think Asian-style Tapas; we had a delightful mixture of dishes including Sushi, Tiger Prawns, Ox Cheek and Chatpata Aloo Tikki all served in a delightful and very busy setting by the Chef's Table. For our next two nights, we were in the Michelin-starred Source Restaurant. On the first night, and as part of our package, we had the 10-course gourmet menu with paired wines courtesy of a seriously knowledgeable Sommelier. In fact, he introduced us to a superb Chardonnay and we don't even like Chardonnay! The Gilpin Spa was another wonderful experience - a Salt Scrub, Mud Treatment and couples full body massage followed by a Bento Box courtesy of Spice for lunch. All culminating in relaxing in the Spa's Hot Tub with a glass of champagne in glorious (and unexpected) warm-ish sunshine. The Minimoon package included tickets for a Windemere Lake Cruise which was very enjoyable, if not chilly and it was great to return to Gilpin where we knew we could sink into a large comfortable chair and be pampered once more. If you are also as fortunate as us to visit, take a little time to wander around their grounds and spot their family of Gloucester Old Spot pigs and the elusive Llama's. To summarise - a great experience which we would highly recommend, particularly to Couples, perhaps to celebrate a special birthday or Anniversary. We have been lucky enough to stay in several luxury hotels in the Lake District over the last decade and this is definitely one of the best.

We spent a fabulous 3 nights at the Gilpin, staying in one of their standard rooms. The hotel is a great base for seeing the Lakes, being just a few miles from Windermere, Ambleside and Grasmere. The room was very comfortable with nice seating area and everything we needed. It was a great sanctuary to return to after a long hike, to sit in the room, or to grab a beer on the patio by the bar. I feel we only scratched the surface of what the hotel has to offer - our walking plans meant we had no time to sample the Spa facilities which many guests seem to enjoy, and we also missed out on the two great restaurants there. But they were both busy with both hotel and non-hotel guests and are clearly highly regarded. The thing we liked most was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. They were all great and worked together as a team incredibly well. They created a relaxed, family atmosphere with none of the stuffiness of similar standard hotels. We couldn't have been looked after better. Finally, great to have been able to charge my hybrid car at one of the two charging points in the hotel.

Stunning , lovely staff, amazing facilities and food. Concierge who went above and beyond, even driving us to and from the local restaurants!

This was our 4th visit.. The staff are wonderful.. especially the"amazing Grace".. our past 3 experiences were excellent..Food in Source was delicious , but shame about the lack of table clothes it used to have, now it feels more like a bistro.. Breakfast lovely and service was brilliant.Spice unfortunately was not up to par in our opinion.. We ate there twice, with the first night almost unedible, which we mentioned and they did not charge, thankyou.. the 2nd/ last night the food was again not up to scratch. We tried totally different items on the menu on both nights, but the food was not as we remember, which is a shame as that has made us make the decision not to go back..
