Ganga Kutir

Ganga Kutir is a good property but it is overpriced, and lacks adequate maintenance. As they do not have much competition, they have slipped into complacency and are leaving many details unattended. A room where we stayed was costing close to 20000 INR per night (with only breakfast included), had spiderwebs in it. Flower vase had ketchup on it, bathroom fittings were ancient and not well ventilated. Building itself has several damp marks in it, wooden railings, lattice windows or French windows has cracks in them reflecting poor maintenance. The girl at the reception was not polite and needs to visit a good hotel to learn what hospitality is. The gardens are not private for residents, anyone staying in the entire Ffort Raichak can come in and hamper your privacy. The security was not ready to even listen to the problem that we were facing. The pool bathroom is with broken shower and faucet arrangements. The restaurant staff are decent and tried their best to serve as needed. The management should look into these issues and may investigate further for improvements. I have not and will not advise anyone to waste their money in this establishment.

The river view is beautiful and the rooms were also very nice. The food at both Reflections and Ganga Kutir was amazing, and the restaurant staff was extremely courteous. However, the reception staff was not that polite. Additionally, the drive to the resort was quite unpleasant and tedious as google showed the wrong route. Unfortunately, the Bengali restaurant, Sonar Tori was closed during our visit. During my visit, the resort provided the buggy ride to the Ffort only once and refused to provide it twice which was quite disakppointing. Overall, it was a satisfying weekend getaway, far from the hustle of the city

Please don't visit this hotel ever. Reception rating 0/10 Room terrible was stinking when we checked in. Even though we had a confirmed booking.Room had poor view to the river. River cruise refused ,minimum 15 persons were required for the boat to start.No convence provided to go to the another cruise point so had to go walking for few kms. Terrible dinner. Terrible Breakfast. My advice to traveller's is don't waste your time and money going to ganga kutir. Dr Deepak Jain.

Beautiful place ***** the Ganga river bank, the place is very compact, but the view is worth forgetting any major to do’s, the rooms were quite spacious and well maintained, food was superb at Sonartori and so was the complimentary breakfast. All in all a relaxing stay with good weather with your favourite people.

Is a quiet enclave, away from the maddening crowd . First the road to Raichak is one of the worst highways for people who are not used to WB . Single lane highway passing thru 4/5 crowded city market . So be ready for a rough drive . There is an alternate route thru Sonarpur which is much better. Coming to the resort . They have 2 different resorts under one name . Fort Raichak and Ganga kutir . The first one is like a hotel and the 2nd one is a resort . In Ganga kutir there are 2 categories . Deluxe room next to Ganges and duplex next to a water body called swimming pool. Never ever take these duplexes. Simply horrendous . Unkept , ill maintained rooms sold as ethenic decor . Deluxe rooms are good . Especially room no 11, 21 and a few more facing the Ganges . Lovely swimming pool , good breakfast spread , overall a pleasant experience .

Attitude & Training of the staff in front office was terrible. The moment we reached after the 3 hours ordeal (drive) from the Kolkata airport, we were received by Ms. Jyoti at reception – who was a classic example of what a staff shud not be on arrival. She looked at our booking from makemytrip and refused saying they don’t have the booking. I contested saying the booking voucher says it is ganga kutir to which the response was makemytrip does a lot of fraud normally. We insisted to check n then she realized the booking was there. We then go to the room which was terrible and looks like a run-down stay & the housekeeping of the room was terrible. The used plates and crockery were lying right outside our room which were not removed for the next 4 hours from the time we checked in. the fancy pool that we see in the website while booking, we realized they are not switching on the lights at night becoz we were the only occupants in that stretch. Dirty walls, stained windows, cigarette stubs lying around were some of the many disaster that we encountered. Left with no option we requested for an upgrade to another room which was an additional 100% of what we had paid already. That also was done by the Ms Jyoti so reluctantly. Thankfully the restaurant staff were warm and salvaged our stay. A property of this scale with such unprofessional staff at front desk + staff openly saying that one should not book thru makemytrip as they do FRAUD is shocking. I wonder why they feature their rooms on their platform. Suggestion to fellow traveler – pls do research on this venue, talk to folks who have been there and then book the suitable room. The pictures are misleading for sure padded with a weird front office staff.
