Sunderban Tiger Camp

We actually had a nice stay here. The rooms are pretty basic but clean enough. The staff were all good, the food was good and the manager was attentive. We enjoyed our stay here. It was tranquil, and the surroundings were beautiful. The highlight of our trip was being able to see a tiger.

We were a group of 6 couples. We really enjoyed the food and the remote setting. The staff was very helpful. The rooms were comfortable (with AC) for the one night we were there. We enjoyed learning about the unique area and seeing birds, deer and monitor lizards. Take your binoculars!

My recent trip to Sundarbans was severely marred by the appalling behaviour of our Tempo Traveller driver mr. prem. Throughout the journey, both to and from Kolkata, the driver repeatedly dozed off at the wheel, creating a dangerous and stressful environment for all passengers. Upon our return to Kolkata, the driver's lack of assistance was simply unacceptable. When we inquired about our luggage, he merely unlocked the door, making no effort to open it or help us unload our bags. Instead, he stood by with his hands on his hips, chewing tobacco, while our guide, biswajith, climbed into the back to assist us with our luggage. We were shocked by his complete disregard for basic customer service and safety. While the rest of the staff were cooperative and helpful, this driver's actions were inexcusable. I would strongly advise against using this Tempo Traveller service unless they address the driver's dangerous behaviour and lack of professionalism

Took a fixed package from stc last week.sundarban tiger camp is a beautiful eco friendly sustainable property amidst the mangroves of Sundarbans .very well managed by swarup bit and his team. They took good care of all the things ( pickup drop from kolkata, ferry transfers, all the meals( freshly made from ingredients from their property )folk dance with bonfire.sunset ferry to watch the birds,whole day ferry safari to the creeks and rivers of sundarbans.Night sky so dark with all the stars and planets visible.waking up to birdsong .everything was good and memorable

Our group of three opted for the 2-night all inclusive experience starting from pick-up to drop-off at designated spot in Kolkata. Carriage was well-arranged, including the 2-hour boat ride to Dayapur Island where the resort is located. The resort is well appointed, the ambience combining rural rusticity with the usual mod-cons. Rooms have good mattresses & pillows; electric kettle; bedside reading lamps are of adequate wattage; there is air-conditioning. Every evening a cultural show was organised ('tho' we were disappointed not to see the "Bon Bibi Jatra" which we were expecting). Waxpol's ethos of involving the locals is to be commended. They have built up a body of staff who provide warm and homely hospitality. Meals, served buffet style, are freshly made, varied and tasty. Cuisine is Pan-Indian (primarily Bengali); the crab dishes & tandoori fare were also very good; we did not care for the Indian Chinese meal. The resort has a bar. Our package included boat safaris to different parts of the Sundebans. There were 2 trips everyday which were extremely enjoyable. We learned a lot about the Mangrove species & the general habitat of the region from the knowledgeable guide provided by STC. We saw a variety of flora, fauna and birds and the sunsets were stunning! But no tiger spotted - perhaps because our boat could access the narrow creeks & water-ways. [Advice for visitors - take a separate small-boat tour if time permits!] Strangely, despite not seeing a tiger, I felt little disaapointment- the tranquility of the place & the ever-shifting scene of the appearing & disappearing Mangroves was enough to bequiled me. An area where immediate attention/improvement is required: the stairs leading down to the waterside has no handrails, are uneven & narrow.

Nice experience. I would like to suggest that veg food options may be increased and the taste of veg food can be enhanced further. Their hospitality is good. The rooms are great. Although lighting in the rooms can be improved. The folk dance activities are also great
