Hotel Admiral

Hotel Admiral is a beautiful hotel in a stunning location! The food was delicious and the service was great. All of the staff were so welcoming and friendly and couldn’t do enough to help. Every member of staff were amazing, especially Lorena and Sebastiano who made our holiday extra special.

We stayed for a week at this hotel ( Room 301 ), the downstairs area's are as other's have said really beautiful, buy once you go upstair's everthong changes !!!! our room the walls were full of dirty marks ,curtains had holes in them, the entrance door frame was hanging off the wall and the bathroom door frame was the same, on the last evening of our stay whilst getting out of the shower I cut my foot quite badly on the shower door frame , I reported this to one of the staff who had a odd job man come to see it , he just shrugged his shoulders as if this was ok, on another occasion when we went to breakfast we sat by a window , I looked down at the floor where I could not believe my eyes there were at least 30 dead flies, I reported this and they were just swept up. This could be a lovely hotel but it needs to be decorated through out and the cleaning needs to be done to a higher standard, would I stay here again ?? no chance.

We visited Sorrento for our 15th Wedding Anniversary and chose The Admiral due its scenic romantic location right at the end of harbour. We are so glad we did as having breakfast on the veranda or sipping a spritz overlooking the Gulf of Naples and Mt Vesuvius makes it all worthwhile. The staff cannot do enough for you and I arranged for some flowers for my wife to delivered to our room, which were beautiful. The hotel itself was clearly built around the 1930’s due its very well maintained art-deco styling none more so as you enter the rooms and staircases/lift but the reception is very modern. Breakfast has vast array of options including an egg station and the lunch/evening meals are of great value and of a good standard. It’s a five minute walk into main town of Sorrento through an idyllic Italian fishing village and staircase before hitting the cobbled streets with hidden churches and galleries. We loved it and planning on coming back again very soon.

This is a hotel tucked away at the end of the marina and not accessible by car so be prepared to drag your luggage 100m over cobbled stones. The hotel reception, bar and dining area has been modernised and give the impression of a 4 star hotel however this is not reflected in the hotel rooms. Whilst decor is irrelevant, comfort and functionality is. We had no aircon in the room. There is an off/off switch which seems to activate a couple of vents which just blew warm air, no aircon unit nor temp controls. We did have a fridge in the room which we weren't expecting having read other reviews. No kettle in the room so if you are a big tea or coffee drinker it's going to cost you 6 euros from the hotel bar per cup. Breakfast buffet is excellent with all the usual English fry up items, continental and amazing selection of cakes and pastries. There's a chef at the bar that makes all forms of eggs fresh to order including omelettes. Biggest let down was the bathroom - very dated. Shower was over the bath with a rickety shower screen that leaked so badly it flooded the floor. It felt like it could fall off the wall if we moved it to get into the bath so access was limited. The bathroom door was stiff and needed force to shut it when fully open and the extractor fan was broken so the bathroom kept steaming up. The plus side of the room was the enormous seafront terrace with views of the marina and mount Vesuvius. Bed was comfortable and the hotel does serve both lunchtime and evening meals if you don't feel like going out. Plenty of marina restaurants on the doorstep though and the climb up steps to the town is walkable or take the shuttle bus up to town or to the station which costs just 1 euro 50 from the marina. Overall I think this is a good base for touring the Amalfi Coast, taking a ferry to Capri and the train to Pompeii. Sorrento is lovely and takes a couple of days to fully explore. Public transport is so cheap and easy to use.

Fabulous hotel . When you walk in the backdrop of Vesuvius sets the tone for this beautiful view of the Mediterranean and the port. And then the breakfast which is all inclusive has all you want:tropical fruit, selection of fine meats and sweet cakes like doughnuts and croissants. Hot drinks and cold refreshments with friendly staff
