Tuggle's Gap Roadside Inn - Blue Ridge Parkway

Our overnight visit at this inn was excellent. The rooms have been fully updated and are very clean and comfortable. The inn is just a few miles from the town of Floyd. The views of the Blue Ridge Mountains at the location are spectacular. Breakfast is included with your stay; nice breakfast. Check in and check out are done remotely with phone texts.

This place reminded me of the motels we would stay in when I was a kid (I'm 77). It's obvious that the Innkeeper(s) have poured themselves into bringing this old timey oasis into the 21st century. It was spartan and the parking lot might need some restoration but our room was clean and quiet, the bed was comfy and the TV and internet worked perfectly. The cafe offered breakfast included in the room price and a 7:30 text from Nick asking what we would like him to cook for our breakfast was a pleasant surprise. We were hoping that the cafe would be open for more than breakfast but such. is not the case. I'm pretty sure that the disaster caused to the general area by Hurricane Helene has been a real financial setback for little businesses like Tuggles Gap and we wish Nick all the success in the world in recovering. Do your part...instead of supporting big chain hotels and motels, look for an opportunity to support the little small businesses along the Blue Ridge. It may just mean their survival.

Though it looks like a classic roadside motel from the outside, appearances can be deceiving. The Tuggles Gap Inn, located at Milepost 165 just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, offers a historic bed and breakfast experience. Living his dream, innkeeper Nick is a pleasant and attentive host, committed to ensuring that your stay is comfortable and enjoyable. Beautifully renovated rooms with wooden paneling and ceilings with recessed lights offer comfortable beds and plush pillows. The keyless entry system made check in simple and easy. The rooms are squeaky clean with fast Wi-Fi, plenty of outlets for charging electronics, and a smart TV. In the bathroom there are soft towels as well as quality soap and shampoo. A delicious freshly prepared breakfast is included in the room cost, however, the restaurant is not currently open for lunch or dinner. The guest information book in the room provides a list of excellent restaurant options located nearby in Floyd, VA. The property used to be a single stop gas station that is no longer operational, but fuel can be obtained in nearby Floyd. A super surprise for us, Tuggles Gap Inn hosts the annual Chanterellefest in August, which includes workshops focused on foraging and mushroom education. We will definitely make plans to attend. Nick provides a unique selection of high-quality items in the gift shop, featuring gifts from his native Sweden, as well as local nature guides and supplies for mushroom foraging. Don't pass up this unique destination experience.

I loved my stay at Tuggles Gap -- the room was super comfortable and thoughtfully designed and it's a great location, close to the town of Floyd and the Blue Ridge Parkway. I would definitely stay there again!

Perfect location off the Blue Ridge Parkway for cyclists. Very good breakfast and comfortable beds. Clean and peaceful decor.
