Country House Resort

The most dog friendly hotel we have ever stayed in! Checked in and received freshly baked cookies for us and a welcome basket in the room for our dog either food and water bowls, sheets to cover furniture and towels to dry our dog, as well as home made dog treats and a poop bag holder. Our room was a whirlpool water view with king bed on the first (ground) floor. Lots of space for all of us. Parking right outside the room. Balcony with two chairs and small table, comfortable chairs and table in the room. Bed was very comfortable with ample pillows. Great shower - body jets, rainfall shower and regular shower too. The room was really clean and had plentiful supplies. The microwave, fridge and small sink as well as coffee machine were all really useful plus coffee is available all day in the lobby. Breakfast was delicious with hot and cold options. Pool and hot tub were fantastic with lots of pool towels, water and ice available in the terrace area. Our dog was welcome everywhere except the lobby/breakfast area and the gated pool & hot tub areas but there are adjacent terraces where you can sit with your dog and be in view of both the pool & hot tub. We walked down to the jetty and into town, using both the road route and the hotel’s path through the woods along the shoreline, a loop down the road and back through the woods made a suitable morning walk for our dog who is 11. An absolutely fantastic stay with excellent amenities, great location and lovely staff!

I liked this resort a lot. We are a couple in our early 50s, no children, so I liked the "no kids under 13" rule. Kept the pool and hot tubs quiet. In fact, the entire resort is pretty quiet. We stayed 3 nights at the resort. It was our first time in Door County, WI. We are from Tampa, FL. Thought the room we received was nice. Liked the view of the lake and that you could leave the sliding door open with a screen. It was very clean. Housekeeping came daily if you requested it, and did a good job. Enjoyed the complimentary breakfast. I think they could add just a little more variety and make it even better. I'm sure cost is an issue, but would have been nice to have bacon one day. Nobody wants ham. Sausage links were good. Some local cherry jam would've been nice or some hash browns. Pastries and bread selection were good. Liked the waffle iron with cherries. Drink selection was good. Pool and hot tub very nice temps. Well maintained grounds. Loved the walk down by the water into town. It was their private trail and an easy little hike. Staff were all friendly, everyone we came into contact with. I liked the location as well. Could walk to town, but there is a pretty big hill you have to climb. Still, very close to shopping and restaurants. I would definitely recommend this hotel. We also stayed at Waterside Inn in Ephraim and I did not like it as well after staying here. Maybe add a cocktail wine and beer hour as well in the evening to really court those looking for an "adults only" experience.

BEAUTIFUL property! Water fountains, mature trees, grassy areas, fire table, outdoor dining patio, lake view and path down to the water. Staff was all very friendly and very helpful with anything we needed. And I mean super friendly! Hot tub was gigantic, super clean and HOT! We didn’t use the pool but it looked nice and clean and was heated to 84°. There are nice bathrobes in each room to use when walking to and from the pool and hot tub which was a very nice touch and so appreciated as I walked back to the room! We were in room 410 with an excellent view of the grounds and the bay. Our king size bed was super comfy and well made with tight fitting sheets (very important ). The room was extremely clean and well appointed. I could find nothing to even improve upon. There was plenty of lighting and at least in our room, all switches had dimmers, which was actually super useful. The AC unit kept the room at the exact temp that we set it for, but it was strangely silent. I don’t think we heard it make a sound but we could feel the cool air coming out without blowing annoying wind out of it. Definitely a top notch unit and such a pleasant departure from most hotel room units. The shower had great pressure but also two shower heads available - one large rain shower and a smaller removable head. The breakfast was well stocked and similar to all hotel breakfasts with eggs, sausage or ham, a variety of breads and bagels, yogurt with Door County cherries, a meat and cheese tray (a welcome addition) and a waffle maker. They keep a cabinet in the lobby with towels and all bathroom products that you can just grab when needed, in addition to the normal option for them to service your room and replace any items you need. They also have a nice collection of DVD’s in the lobby and players in every room. I walked the path down to the water which was steep and paved and then there is a set of steps before you get to the nice dock with bench seating at the end of it. It’s a beautiful view from the dock, so highly recommend making the trek. It would be a killer coming back up (I walked to town from there so never had to come back up the hill). The dirt path to town is about a 15 minute easy walk through the woods. There are rocks and tree roots all along the path so it is probably not a good idea for someone who isn’t sure footed. The water is in view the entire time which makes it enjoyable. The resort kayak launch is on that path and the water was calm and would have been perfect for a paddle. The path seemed to end for me at the parking lot of another resort so I walked through their parking lot and ended up right at the beach area at Waterfront Park. I enjoyed my hot mocha from Happy Coffee every day of our stay in Sister Bay - it is just excellent! If you have read all of this review, you must seriously be considering this property. I will just say that we saw hundreds of other resorts, hotels and cabins while we were there but we would definitely choose Coun

Our stay at the Country House Resort in Sister Bay was wonderful. We have been coming up for years. The times that we stay is early May (shops are open) and middle October (to see the fall colors) prior to the Sister Bay Fall Festival. The lake‑side rooms are peaceful and truly quiet, tucked off the beaten path with no traffic noise from Hwy 42. The property has beautiful grounds and a really nice pathway that leads down to the lakefront, plus the ability to walk into town through a wooded area, which feels like a hidden gem. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and up to date, and the staff (Darcy and Ben) is extremely friendly and accommodating. They want to share what makes Door County special. I loved the little touches, especially the yogurt and cherries at breakfast. If you’re looking for a relaxing, scenic place to stay in Door County, this resort is a perfect choice.

This cozy, welcoming, quaint resort has all the basics for a lovely visit to Door County! The resort is located alongside the lake in Sister Bay and has a beautiful rugged walking trail just behind the Inn, which winds along a path to the marina, beach and downtown. The walk takes about 15 minutes and is a great way to start your day each morning. There are also kayaks, board games, tennis courts, corn hole boards, a pool and hot tub available for hotel guests. The rooms are very clean and the beds are comfy and are well appointed with bath robes, a small refrigerator/freezer, seating area and outdoor balcony for upgraded rooms with a lake view. A basic continental breakfast is offered in the lobby every morning with coffee and tea available throughout the day. This family run resort is a family favorite for a reason! Kids 12 and over are welcome.

We were greeted with a smile, warmth, and a great overview of the property. Our second floor suite exceeded our expectations. It was spacious, clean, recently remodeled, had an amazing shower, and had a beautiful view. We will return.

Breakfast was fresh. Dining room was clean. Rooms were modern and clean. Available by reception in the dining room were DVDs to watch in your room and games like monopoly and scrabble etc

Homey. We felt comfortable immediately upon arrival. We stayed in room 210, which was smaller than we are used to, but it worked out well. We had a great view. Staff, breakfast, and the pool were great as well. Other guests friendly. We would stay again. The actual lake frontage was disappointing; not as usable as i thought it would be - what the lakefront lacked, the view from our room made up for. overall, a great stay - we would return.

Room was clean and well-appointed. It's an older resort, but well taken care of. This was a winter visit, so we did not utilize many of the amenities. It has a wonderful view that would be great in any season, particularly fall.
