My wife and I just returned from staying at this property. On the night of May 11, we returned from having spent all day in the woods and very much in need of a shower. Our towels from the previous day were on the floor of the bathroom, so I went down to the front desk to request another set. I was told by the clerk that there were no clean towels in the entire hotel, and would not be for another hour. It was nearly 11:00 pm. When I asked why there were no towels, the response I received was, "People keep taking the towels and not returning them to me." I have stayed in some low-service hotels, but never one in which the guests were responsible for returning towels to the front desk. In any event, we ended up drying ourselves with the two clean hand towels that remained in our room. At the risk of stating the obvious, I was requesting something that is a basic service element at every hotel and motel, like water and sheets. The hotel's response to their inability to provide this service was not to attempt in any way to redress the issue or even to apologize, but instead to suggest that the fault in the situation lay with the guests. The hotel's total failure to provide a basic service, together with its indifferent response to the situation, combined to create one of the most off-putting experiences I have ever had in many years of travel.
