The electricity automatically went off leaving us on the mercy of torch lights even to use the washrooms for 3 hours in the night. I had to go downstairs and enquire about the power failure ti which the staff said that electricity will come in sometime and the generator was also faulty. The staff present during the night was also not curteous and did not paid heed to the conplaints. The quality of toilets linen is pathetic, the towels are torn and of poor quality. There were no welcome drinks offered as mentioned in the package. There is internet limitations and most of the time not available.

I had the misfortune of staying at Royal Retreat, Shimla(Stay date: 29th March till 31st March 2025) and it was, without a doubt, one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. From abysmal service to utterly unacceptable room conditions, this establishment fails on every level. The room service was shockingly poor. Simple requests, such as water or towels, required multiple calls – often five or more – and excessive waiting times. It felt like pulling teeth to get basic necessities. The washroom was another major issue. A persistent, foul odor permeated the space, making it unpleasant to use. Cleanliness was clearly not a priority. Perhaps the most egregious issue was the extra bed we requested. What we received was a broken, dilapidated excuse for a bed. The center was completely collapsed, resulting in a night of excruciating back pain. It's appalling that a hotel would provide such a substandard piece of furniture to paying guests. While the staff did acknowledge our complaints, their words were empty. There was absolutely no effort to rectify the problems. It felt as though they were merely paying lip service to our concerns, with no intention of taking action. I strongly advise anyone considering staying here to look elsewhere. You will be deeply disappointed.

The hotel's location is quite strategic. u can walk up and reach the mall in 15-20 mins, it's an enjoyable walk. Or you can take a cab to the lift and reach the mall in 5 mins. Both routes are different.
Our room was a suite and was a decent size. Usually the suite has a separate sitting area, but they don't have it this way. The room service/housekeeping was up to mark and quick. The reception staff was smiling and courteous. The restaurant service was a little slow. I think they should increase the waiting staff over there, there was just 1 or 2. Food was good.
The hotel is clean n fresh and one will have a fuss free stay for sure.

light went off every night.
I could hear every single sound from every room next to mine.
walls of bathroom and jacuzzi were super dirty.
furniture is rusted.
room has unpleasant smell.
jacuzzi room was so dusty.
very bad experience on cleanliness.
