The Eastbury & Spa

Stayed here once before when it still had a restaurant and thought we would have another go. Wasn’t disappointed. Staff are great, even found us an alternative room as my wife was dreaming of having a bath lol….loads of places to eat in the evening all within walking distance. Breakfast was amazing. Definitely recommend.

Unfortunately their website does not match the reality in our experience. This is by no means a 5* Hotel, to start with the restaurant is not open for evening meals. the bar was never open ,so my understanding of this means it should be a B&B. The breakfast room was very old style but also grubby , crumbs left on floor from day before etc. Also Leppard print carpet!!. Dogs also allowed in at breakfast. The breakfast itself is quite basic this includes the buffet. There was a drain smell in the reception area that I reported and only got the response of I can't smell anything must be used to it !!!. Reception is only manned until 20.00/21.00 then no staff at all on site. The room was very over priced, and the cleanliness very poor basics were not done. Our room was not serviced when I asked if it could be at 14.00 I was informed no as the housekeeping had gone home !! The receptionist added that the please clean my room sign had fallen off the door. Honestly I was lost for words. The one positive about here is the beautiful gardens. Please be warned it is not as good as you are made to believe.

Lovely staff and generally an excellent experience. The hotel is very clean and smart. The guest lounges are really comfortable with quality furniture. The conservatory where breakfast is served could do with updating but the breakfast was good. My only suggestion beyond that would be to upgrade their breakfast tea!

We had a 2 night 'Winter Getaway' at The Eastbury and had a most enjoyable stay. Our room was spacious, warm and very comfortable. We particularly appreciated the 2 armchairs and coffee table - ideal for enjoying our bubbles and chocolates! Breakfasts were fantastic, a great choice and really delicious, well cooked food. The hotel is very well located for a flat stroll into the town centre and Sherborne itself is a great place to explore - we particularly recommend 'The Sherborne' (Art Centre with an excellent restaurant) and Sherborne Abbey.

Friendly, helpful staff made for a very welcoming stay. Beautiful gardens and comfortable rooms. Easy to stroll into the town, close to the abbey and local restaurants. Good breakfast served from 7am and free onsite parking made this perfect for a business trip. Will definitely be staying again.

In the area to visit Haynes Museum, what a find Sherborne and then The Eastbury Hotel (TEH) were. My wife booked the spa and later we visited Sherborne Abbey. A two night stay with lovely dinners at Macready's and The Green. We had a lovely welcome at TEH from the very helpful reception. There are super sitting rooms with books, board games and a snooker table! Our bedroom was spacious, warm and plenty of storage space for our kit. Hearty breakfasts too. The car park was nearly full when we arrived at 19:30 on Friday evening so get there early and don't get held up on the M25 as we did! We will definitely return.
