Shell Lake Lodge, a Travelodge by Wyndham

Taking into consideration the new owners, perhaps great things to come, it’s a great property with tons of potential, I enjoyed talking with one of the owners and learned things about the Wyndham levels and restrictions on for instance type of breakfast offerings, the bed was super comfortable, TV was small for the room and kept buffering so I turned it off, was told they are in the process of switching cable providers, it looks like a great place for family fun with the pool area. Probably only disappointed by the breakfast that I’m told only has hot meals on the weekends, so for $150 plus it’s been the only hotel of my 150+ a year stays that didn’t have this I would recommend staying here, I believe it’s only going to improve

First time back at this hotel in over 7 years and the new ownership and new beds were great. Facility was clean and the hot tub was hot! Definitely will be back next time we ride the trails during fall colors. They worked hard to keep the warm breakfast full for all guests to enjoy.

Great room for a family of 5! The doors to the living room area in our room shut so the older kids could easily stay up later than the toddler and not disturb him. The bed was gigantic and super comfortable. There was a pool and a small pool for toddlers!

We stayed last year and the experience wasn’t great. However, they are under new ownership and our stay last night was awesome! The new owner and staff were very friendly! The slides on the pool still aren’t working but they were up front with us and told us why. The pool area was still awesome even without them! A fun kids pool with small slide and a hot tub with a cute bear fountain! The pools were warm and clean! The rooms were also very clean. They had free breakfast and it was full of options! Waffles, small omelets, sausage, potato skillet, cereal, toast. They were working hard to keep it all stocked through the breakfast hours. We talked with the maintenance person and he told us they were in the middle of redoing everything including the rooms. We were really impressed with everyone and what they’ve done to the place. We will be back and recommend anyone that stayed prior to summer 2024 try it again as well!

Do not book this place! Apparently the pool hasn't been working for about 2 years but was told it was under maintenance, really for 2 years! The beds are hard, the rooms are not clean and neither are the towels the have horrible stains on them! Desk service is horrible as well. Was told one price over the phone but another (way over) price at check in! The price should be 40.00 a night honestly! Free breakfast? Where? My friend paid for the room but I would have asked for a refund!

Only stay here if you want to get yelled at by staff and hung up on. Even the manager Raj treated me horribly when I had a sick child. This place should be shut down it is so horribly run. I have never experienced staff that had so little care for customers and corporate actually won't even respond to my numerous emails and calls, so do NOT waste a dime on these disgusting people who just want your money.

Owner is rude but his wife was very pleasant. I didn't know their pool was broken down and I wouldn't have stayed there had they called to tell me. Also, they should have lowered the price because of it.

Their thing is to book at one rate, and then charge a higher rate once you show. You can NOT cancel, and they will charge your card whether you like it or not. This is a SCAM! I asked to cancel the 2nd night, they said NO. As I was sleeping, another family was trying to get in my room. THEY SOLD MY NIGHT TO ANOTHER FAMILY, WHILE I WAS IN THE ROOM. They are awful people, and the world needs to know.

Horrible customer service! Flights were cancelled due to weather and not only did refuse to cancel the reservation, they also would not email me a receipt. Do yourself a favor and drive an hour or two versus staying at this place!
