Stayed here 2 years ago and had a good experience so we were happy to come back again. Noticed a few reviews from earlier in the year where it looks as though they may have had a new chef and issues bedding him in as there was a run of complaints about the food, but having stayed second week of March I can confirm there were no issues for us. Everything was hot and tasty, and though the layout of the buffet can lead to crowding and queues from those a bit too eager to get at their food, we found that if we turned up about half an hour after the buffet opened for the evening at 7.30 then things were a lot calmer. Food did run out, but with the exception of desserts (which weren't brought out until 8.30 anyway) then everything was replenished, especially if you asked. No issues with breakfast either. Otherwise hotel is much as it was. Room is absolutely fine if a little too warm at times. Excellent shower. We had views out towards the slopes which are only a short stroll from the ski room under the hotel. Irish-themed bar in the basement shows the rugby and was generally always quite busy, especially for the free apres-ski cake. Has a good selection of beers to choose from too, and prices though expensive were no worse than most of the other bars in town. Plus, the barman always gave us complimentary snacks! Sestriere is so high it's great for later in the season skiing. This hotel would still be my first choice in town if I was to come here again.
