Kombo Beach Resort

I visited Kombo Beach Resort in Jan, it was the most lovely experience I have had! Everyone is extremely friendly, there's lots to do or you can switch off and just enjoy the sun by the beach or the pool. To keep fit, I hit the gym in the morning, with the support of Adam Marena, who helped me achieve a personal best on the weighted squats, Thank you Adam ! Then chilled by the pool until the evening entertainment. I highly recommend going and I plan to return.

10 dagen verbleven in hotel Kombo beach. Mooi hotel met een prachtige ligging. Wij waren all in. Eten vonden wij erg goed. Drankjes bij de bar minder. Zelf ben ik diabetes en vroeg om een cola zero, elke dag hetzelfde antwoord was net finish?? Dus regelmatig naar de winkel buiten het hotel en daar cola zero gekocht. Met bier het zelfde de ene dag wel een tap biertje de andere dag was het op, en werden er blikjes gegeven. Ook mee gemaakt dat de bar om kwart voor 11 s avonds al dicht ging. Zwembad was perfect. Op zondag erg druk met mensen die van buiten kwamen om te eten en te zwemmen. Onze kinderen waren ook in Gambia en zouden graag het hotel even willen bekijken. Dit gaat alleen tegen een behoorlijke entree prijs. Echt alleen even kijken!! Onze kamer was goed en netjes schoonmaak ook erg goed. Weet niet of we volgendjaar weer voor dit hotel zouden kiezen? Als alle blokken klaar zijn en dan nog de gasten van buiten erbij kon het nog wel eens te klein worden.

My mum and I recently returned from a wonderful stay at this lovely hotel where there was fabulous food, beautiful surroundings, toe tapping live music (with lots of dancing!). The staff throughout couldn’t have been more hard working, friendly and helpful. I would love to mention everyone by name but would run out of room! A big thanks to Sophie in the restaurant (along with Ndey, Francis and many others!) and Sophie in reception and to Omar as well!, to Bakary the security guard with whom I had a lovely chat early one morning, to Aimee Seesay who kept our room to tip top condition and to Sam the man who helped keep the pool spotless! And SO many more. Huge apologies for not listing everyone. The staff really make this place. The setting is stunning. I loved the constant view of the beautiful Beach and waters and the gentle crashing sound of the sea. The grounds are well maintained too (thank you young Lamin and team). Finally Chief LT (and The Gambian Experience Rep) is an outstanding man and gave us so much useful information and tips. An unforgettable holiday. Really hope to return back before long!…

We've been to this hotel 16 years ago and the recent upgrading work, mainly outside, made it less appealing to us. We paid extra for a Seaview room but didn't get one on arrival. Had to wait 3 days to be moved so couldn't unpack. The food was OK but the hot food was not kept hot resulting in both of us having very upset stomachs. Me twice! We did speak to the manager but he didn't seem very interested. The all inclusive drinks were terrible. I don't drink alcohol and the few soft drinks available were like kids drinks full of sugar. I drank mainly water and tea, very poor. The beer and wine was the cheapest possible. Unfortunately it seems that everything in the hotel is done on a very tight budget. We ate outside of the hotel a few times even though we paid for AI . So much better. Most of the staff are lovely and the position of the hotel right on the beach is perfect. Whoever owns this hotel should be ashamed of themselves. It could be so much better. We won't be returning.

We went to the Kombo from the 11th to the 18th February. We were given a ground floor garden room which we asked to be changed as we had booked a premium Seaview, this was done straight away however, we had a partial not full Seaview. We presume that this was because the hotel was full / over booked as some guests were sent to other hotels and the apartments over the road. Our room was nice, we had a sink and toilet that moved but that was our only issue, the rooms are a decent size and the bed was comfy, there was a knack to get hot water which we mastered by the end of the holiday. The young girl who looked after our room was Kaddy Jammeh, she was always friendly and polite and kept the room clean and tidy. We had different Bed Art the days she worked which were great, on my Birthday we came back to the picture I have attached which was amazing. To be honest, all of the Staff (quite a few from the Old Kombo who had been kept on) were great and so helpful from the guys who looked after the Pool, Beach, Sunbeds to the security guards and bar, restaurant and reception staff. Special shout out's go to the Lovely Pauline and the Greatest Bar Person Linda (what a smile) who looked after everyone. Also a massive shout out to the staff of the Barracuda Bar who tried but unfortunately failed to get the BHAFC v Chelsea match on their TV in the bar for us due to the Valentines Party being held in the Sports Bar as it was very windy. They also kindly offered to try and put it on in our room for us which is going above and beyond. We declined and listened via YouTube to Brighton winning 3-0. Yankuba Minteh who is from Gambia scored 2 goals. UTA We had a really great time and met some lovely people and made the most of being in Gambia. The people are great, the food was different but always something to eat and we ate out a couple of times in the nearby restaurants, Paradise Beach Bar, Ali Baba and Tandoor. We wanted to go bird watching as the last few times we had gone it had been amazing but as I could not walk too far we only ventured to the Bridge and the Guides were really helpful offering to help and take us places which we politely declined but paid the Guide who stayed with us for his help. The hotel itself is still being renovated but this did not disturb us at all. I do not want to knock the Kombo Beach Resort as I am sure that the management and owner know where they need to improve and as we had stayed at the Old Kombo comparisons are difficult as the Old Kombo did need to be updated and the New Kombo is not finished so they both had their advantages and disadvantages. I will say that for a Hotel that has only been renovated for a few years it is already looking tired in places and there are places where you need to watch where you walk. You also need to be careful when they clean the floor tiles which they do a lot which is a good thing but they get very slippery and for someone like me who has bad hips I was terrified of slipping over.

Naar lang twijfelen en informatie ingewonnen toch afgereisd naar The Gambia, bij aankomst dachten we waar zijn we aan begonnen, we zijn wel wat gewend Indonesië, Vietnam, maar deze gedachte was al snel verdwenen wat een vriendelijkheid van de mensen, kunnen wij zeker nog wat van leren. Bij aankomst bij het resort dezelfde vriendelijkheid en gastvrije ontvangst, wij hadden kamers in blok 2 bovenin, de kamer was prima en werd elke dag schoongemaakt, incl. nieuwe handdoeken en flesjes water, (room cleaning super), wij hadden alleen ontbijt wij houden niet zo van All inclusief, gaan liever bij de lokale restaurants wat eten en die zijn er genoeg, zijn één keertje op de strip wezen eten maar vonden dat te toeristisch. Klein minpuntje, na meerdere keren vragen en twee keer bij de manager was het na 4 a 5 dagen ook wel opgelost, onze dochter is vegan dus was er voor haar bijna niets te eten alleen wat fruit, er was ook geen soja melk problemen met levering, stond wel toevallig een keer een pak bij het ontbijt, daarna was er niet meer aan te komen zijden ze, terwijl je dit in de supermarkt iets verder op gewoon kon kopen, wouden dat zelf ook wel kopen maar dat was niet de bedoeling, na 4 a 5 dagen stond er een speciaal buffet voor mensen met allergieën en vegan. Het resort ligt prachtig aan mooi strand de security is zeer behulpzaam bij het helpen met de ligbedjes op het strand, er zijn mooie zwembaden goed restaurant/bar, fitness ruimte, en er wordt genoeg georganiseerd. Koop ook eens een sapje bij de juices boys of fruit bij de fruit Ladies komen op gepaste afstand lang. In de buurt van het resort kun je geld wisselen en goede lokale tour operators die je mooie dingen van The Gambia willen laten zien. Het was voor ons een geweldige ervaring en mooie lieve mensen/vrienden ontmoet
