Bakadaji Hotel

Eind mei 2025 vakantie gevierd in Bakadaji. Om eerlijk te zijn een tegenvaller. Op woensdag kwamen wij aan en was het zwembad leeg en toen wij de week daarna weer naar huis gingen was het zwembad nog steeds leeg (zie foto). Op voorhand geen melding gehad. Bij de receptie meerdere malen gevraagd wanneer het zwembad klaar zou zijn, maar nadat we meerdere (!) loze toezeggingen hebben gehad de hoop opgegeven. Vanuit de reisorganisatie is een alternatief zwembad aangedragen, het naastgelegen hotel. Vanuit het hotel niets over gehoord (zou m.i. getuigen van klantvriendelijkheid). Het alternatieve zwembad was vies en had gebroken tegels. Gevaarlijk. (Zie foto’s). Het ontbijtbuffet is samen met de gasten/ werknemers van het conferentiecentrum dat in het hotel gelegen is (let op; daardoor veel locale bevolking). Luidruchtig, veel mensen en er wordt geen onderscheid gemaakt tussen gasten en voorgenoemde personen (lees; als gast kun je achter in de rij staan voor je gebakken ei). Het ontbijt (wij hadden logies en ontbijt) is prima, maar daar is alles mee gezegd. De kamer was net, schoon en alles is recentelijk gerenoveerd. Het enige jammer is dat de stroom meerdere keren is uitgevallen. De tuinen e.d. worden goed onderhouden en zien er netjes uit. De dooddoener “welkom in Afrika” of “de charmes van Afrika” vinden wij niet van toepassingen, want we hebben er genoeg voor betaald. Overigens vanuit het hotel GEEN compensatie, terwijl genoegzaam is aangegeven wat onze issues waren. Overall, niet de vakantie zoals gehoopt en voor ons dan ook nooit geen Bakadaji meer. Reisorganisatie eveneens geschrokken en heeft de eerstvolgende gasten overgeboekt naar een ander hotel.

Onze vakantie was fantastisch. Het personeel was super. We zaten in jola 6 we keken uit op de tuin en de kamers waren erg schoon , de bloemen en planten waren ook erg mooi. Het personeel is vlot en accuraat . De poolboys , niks was te gek ze regelde alles. Met de taxi naar de markt,vraag de locals,1 van de jongens,Saikou is onze gids geweest op zij n vrije dag.We komen zeker nog een keer terug. Groetjes Fam. Zwart uit Zeeland

Mooi en proper hotel. Niet te groot. Zeer ruime kamers met airco en de Belgische stekkers kunnen gebruikt worden.Zeer vriendelijk personeel Shampoo, conditioner, douchegel, zeep, kam, tandenborstel en pasta, haardroger scheergerief en douchecap aanwezig Enige minpuntje is een saai en sober ontbijt( onze mening) En naargelang je kamer maken de poolboys wel wat lawaai. Maar zeker een ster meer waard!!!

Great staff, never met such friendly people. Beautiful hotel, great environment and the food in the restaurant is to die for. Bakadaji has everything you need! Just 5 minutes to walk to the beach and all of the best places of the Gambia are within reach. We will definitely go back.

I spent two weeks at this hotel for a business trip. Advantages: 1- Rooms are very spacious and are well maintained 2- The hotel is well located close to Senegambia 3– The staff members are friendly especially Musa at the front desk 4- Breakfast is decent Disadvantages: 1- The hotel does not have direct access to the beach; it is a 15 minute walk 2- The hotel does not have its own gym; you have to subscribe to the nearby gym Garage Fitness 3- The swimming pool is small and does not allow length swimming 4- The internet connection is weak and power cuts are frequent 5- There is no ATM machine 6- The hotel does not offer free water for standard reservations which is really cheap

The hotel is physically nice. The pool is wonderful and clean, the gym access is fantastic! The breakfast is adequate, not special. Problems encountered - no hot water. Mentioned this to the desk several times with no resolution. You are only provided with two bottles of water on check-in, nothing for subsequent days. The standard across most of Africa, frankly the whole world, is that when the tapwater is not potable, the hotels provide guests with at least two bottles of water per day per day. This is honestly a minimal expense for the hotel and relieves the hassle on guests to have to track down water on a regular basis. The Royalista Restaurant just outside the car gate, is a fantastic fusion restaurant with Indian Italian, and some Chinese food. It is incredibly reasonably priced, much more south than the restaurant just inside the gate for the hotel. The hotel was able to exchange currency at what I found to be a very reasonable rate. The beds were quite comfortable, the air conditioning worked well, and the rooms were clean and in good order. I asked for a tea kettle, which was brought right up. However, in this day and age the rooms should be pre-equipped with tea kettles and coffee or tea service for in room consumption, as is the standard in most 3-4 star hotels around the world. The Internet worked OK in the main building, and on the patio, but was virtually nonexistent and incredibly unreliable in the rooms. This poses a significant challenge if you are trying to do work. It is obvious by the shirts, that the staff is definitely being trained to up the level of customer service. By and large, I found most of the staff, especially housekeeping, to be very accommodating and helpful. The restaurant stated on several occasions that they were out of something, yet on two of those occasions, when asking a different person, items would miraculously appear. This hotel has the potential to be quite a place. The management and staff need to pay a bit more attention to detail, put the effort and money into a few of the amenities that are missing, and ensure a reliable supply of hot water.
