Bamboo Garden Hotel

Dit was ons 22e bezoek aan Gambia. Deze keer weer eens gekozen voor een budget hotel. Zwaar teleurstellend. Hebben in al die jaren niet zo'n matig hotel getroffen zoals deze. Hadden een studio geboekt. Kamer zeer gedateerd en bij elkaar geraapt zooitje. Gelukkig wel een goed bed. Badkamer schimmelboel en lekkage na het douchen. Gemeld bij receptie dat het allemaal erg matig was. Zij schermden ermee dat je airco (euro5 p.d), keukengerei en toebehoren had. Je had er alleen niets aan omdat niets compleet was. Wordt niets aan gedaan, aangezien er een nieuw complex gebouwd wordt. Moet in de toekomst beter worden. Neemt niet weg dat je nu in een aftandse boel zit. Personeel over het algemeen vriendelijk, maar erg amicaal en luidruchtig naar elkaar toe. Deel van de bezoekers van dit hotel kent elkaar al langer en dat is te merken aan het luidruchtig begroeten en de conversatie over hoe dronken ze zijn geweest en of ze nog gescoord hadden die avond. Geldt gelukkig niet voor alle mannen. Veel alleenstaande mannen komen namelijk voor het vertier met de lokale dames. Het hotel legt ze geen strobreed in de weg om de dames mee te nemen naar de kamer. Tui zou het sieren eens heel kritisch te kijken naar deze locatie. Geven 2,5 ster. Staat niet in verhouding tot datgene er wordt geboden en niet in verhouding tot andere locaties die bv. 3 sterren krijgen maar vele malen meer bieden. De quality manager van Tui heeft wat werk te doen. We zijn na vier dagen op eigen kosten naar een ander hotel gegaan. Gelukkig daar nog een fijne periode gehad. Voor ons nooit meer Bamboe Garden Hotel.

I went one time. They dont pay the staff enough thats wy i put 1 star. They get 50 euro a month and some of them get 35 euro a month. If a employer is sick they dont continue paying them. It is modern slevery. The owner is from Libie and the staff from Libie get 10 times more then the Gambian people. I tought slavery was something from the history but in this hotel it stil excist.

The first room bi had was stinking of sewage i refused to take it so he put me in another room for the night ,then next afternoon he moved me to room 10 and when i saw the shower room it was disgusting water coming down the walls from above rooms big holes in the ceiling plaster falling down no fridge which I had to pay for the shower room mats were dirty and mouldy i threw them outside the front that's the only time they were cleaned in 2 weeks the pillow cover was ripped the cover for the boiler fell down as you can see from the pictures I said to the manager to come and see it and he i will talk to manager 3 times i complained nothing was done ,outside my back window there was an open sewage manhole breakfast first morning was cold and not very nice so I was eating out ball the rest of my holiday never stay there again i booked all this with tui,

Kamer was redelijk, maar 1 x zonder water gezeten, badkamer rook wel verschrikkelijk soms… poolnacht was ok, vriendelijke mensen, ontbijt was niet goed, brood altijd hard , bijna alles altijd op, nee was niet top … denk niet dat we daar nog naartoe gaan ( maar het is en blijft Gambia natuurlijk dus ja…)

Good location close to the beach short walk to senagambia there are a few restaurants close by , when we first read the reviews we were a bit worried what we were going to but it is basic but the bed is comfy it was cleaned everyday , the bar is a bit overpriced, we ordered food on the first night as it was a long day and couldn’t be bothered to go out it was awful and we didn’t eat it but was still made to pay for it , it was only when we were leaving that we found out the restaurant as no attachment to the hotel the lady who runs the restaurant was very abrupt , if you have any issues with the food don’t blame the hotel as it is not connected

Spent 11 nights here and would return. You get what you pay for and this wasn't the most expensive trip. The room was perfect for our requirements with a huge bed, plenty of storage space, electric sockets (UK Plug fitted these). Bathroom / Shower was a little dated but the shower was powerful enough. The pool water needed a little attention but was perfectly fine for the occasional dip to cool off. Location is good - just a short walk to the beach and other places to eat and drink are very close. You will get plenty of attention outside of the hotel, particularly from the local taxi drivers / tour guides. Staff were excellent and made the stay even more enjoyable. All in all - if you want something that isn't overly expensive but will give you a bit of winter sun with a warm, friendly and accommodating welcome then give it a shot.
