Sweetwaters Serena Camp

Very well-run lodge; however, it was a bit too large for our tastes. We prefer smaller, more intimate accommodations, with individual meal service rather than the large buffet. Their gift shop is well-stocked, and the hot water bottles for our feet at night were much appreciated. The staff is very accommodating and helpful. James, our room steward, and Anne, from the dining room, took excellent care of us. The breakfast boxes they prepared for us were very good!

We stayed 3 nights at Sweetwater and had a fabulous experience. We paid extra for the privilege of staying in a tent near the watering hole and we're so glad we did. Tent 5 was a perfect location to enjoy the sunrise over Mt. Kenya. Throughout the day, we sat on our front porch while a great variety of animals came to the watering hole. With one exception, the staff was exceptional in their service.

Sweetwaters Camp was a great place to relax between game drives in Ol’ Pejeta. While being driven from the airport to the camp, we saw 3 out of the Big 5! The tents at the camp face either a watering hole or Mt Kenya. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. One staff member showed us a very special friend after he knew we enjoyed birds. The camp has a resident Marabou stork! The bed was great, the bathroom clean, etc. The best thing about the camp is seeing and hearing animals come to the watering hole. Zebras, Rhinos, elephants, Cape buffalo, waterbuck, and so many more. The food was all buffet with a short order cook for omelets or stirfry. It was very good. Highly recommend! In my opinion, the only down side was the VERY long walk from our tent to the dining area and main meeting area.

This was our last stop on our Safari, the views from our room were amazing! You look out to the waterhole and many many animals come to drink. We saw Buffalos, Rhinos, Giraffes and other smaller animals, such a great experience! We had a tent (more like a room, has a bathroom, electricity etc.) There is no safe in these rooms so you do have to carry any valuables with you which is a bit annoying. All meals were buffet, everyone was very nice and helpful, when I told out waiter I couldn't have dairy he got the chef who showed me what I could and couldn't have, which was very helpful.

Wild animals grazing outside of your tent! This was our first stop on our safari experience and it did not disappoint. Service was very good. Food was fine with a wide array of different choices at the buffet. We were in a canvas tent (a very nice one) on a platform with a full bathroom. Any issues we had were solved quickly. We went on game drives with a private guide (from an outside company) who was so knowledgeable and knew where to look for animals.

We stayed for three nights in late January. The “tents” were excellent, very well furnished with superb facilities. Slightly chilly at nights so were delighted to find hot water bottles in the bed. Lovely food, all buffet, and delightful staff. Had its own waterhole and were able to watch rhino, buffalo and so many birds. On the drives we saw plenty of animals in a wonderful setting. Chimpanzee reserve nearby as is a Rhino sanctuary. Right on the Equator and interesting to stand in both hemispheres.
