Selva Verde Lodge

This property is amazing. The staff is so helpful. We were in one of the bungalows the first night. Wasn’t bad but not for us. Too far from the amenities. We were able to move the second night near the river. The room is great. Breakfast was included and has everything you could want. Eat in their restaurant. It’s well priced the food is amazing and again the staff is top notch.

Wonderful location ! Our room was large, comfortable and faced the river . The staff all had a smile for us and worked so hard to keep the walkways clear ,the grounds inviting , the rooms immaculate and the food tasty! The bird life at Selva Verde - wow. We experienced a Bird tour and Nature tour with Carlos who was extremely knowledgeable ,friendly and so helpful. By placing my phone on his telescope he videotaped two Great green Macaws preening each other for me. I am so grateful . He was one of many guides we had that made our trip to Costa Rica an exceptional experience . We also saw a number of different frogs. A Boa Constrictor. River otter. Kinkajou. Four eyed Opossum and more !Fantastic

Beautiful eco resort by the river. We went to sleep listening to the river and saw a great many bird watchers and photographers on the site. Two very different restaurants and a nice pool. The howler monkeys put on a great show by the pool.

Large property - suffered from recent flooding when I was there. Saw a lot of interesting birds and other wild life on the property. The rooms were large - but the space was not well utilized. I had the impression that there was a lot of deferred maintenance that was overdue. Nonetheless, it was comfortable. The food was OK.

Amazing place to stay for seeing birds and wildlife. I’d highly recommend the guided nature walk or guided bird watching. The rooms and grounds are beautifully kept, as well.

Huge, lovely lodge. Very, very spread out so plan on walking some distance from reception to your large room. There is a luggage bench at the end of each of the two beds. There is also a couch that is basically a twin bed. Table which can be used as a desk with a chair. Two end tables with lights. One of the lights in the bathroom does not turn on an exhaust fan. That is a plus. My room had lots of windows and i found one with a screen so i could open it a bit and hear the rain. Ceiling fans and good AC, good wifi. Dining hall for groups with adequate hot food and a great salad bar. Nice staff. Try to get a room facing the river. They even have a “boot library” so that when the trails are very muddy you can save your shoes. Lots of hot water but weak shower. Two sinks in the bathroom, but i would rather have had more counter space and one sink. There is a safe and a wall mirror in the room in addition to the bathroom mirror. The walkways connecting everything are covered but slippery. Well located next to rafting and chocolate factory but road noises were a bit disruptive because of where my room was located. The organic pineapple farm tour might also be close by.
