The food was great. The acoustic of the dinning room, with a noisy table of six, made for a less enjoyable evening. The service is sub-standart. The menus were laid on the table instead of handed individually. The wine bucket was set on the table (no stand). The wine was not given to taste or poured into glasses. A coke came wit no ice, lemon or an adequate glass. The waiter would serve from anyside, crossing in front of the face of the persons at the table. While we were eating a table near our was being sprayed with an amonia cleaner. While serving a flambe deser the waiter spiled cognac on the table and on the customer p’s lap an lit it up in a careless way. Service is by far the weakness of a place that could be great if it had decent acoustics and a well trained staff.

This was my second wonderful stay at Herdade do Ananas. Staff manages to be both friendly and professional, and my strongest sense is that this hotel is extremely well managed and well maintained--it has every right to claim to be a polished boutique rural hotel. The property is spotless, and the outdoor common areas are being further improved through more plantings. Rooms are very comfortable with modern bathrooms and cozy beds. The location is not walkable to anything; you do need to either have a car or take taxis. Breakfast is excellent and plentiful, with eggs cooked to order. We had dinner at the restaurant and it was excellent, particularly the hummus. Two small points for improvement. One, the coffee at breakfast is indeed poor quality, although I appreciate they serve it alongside hot milk and will bring a custom espresso. The in-room coffee is unfortunately instant. Secondly, they allow smoking and while I only saw ash trays, not smokers, on the balconies, this really has a dampening affect considering how the building and grounds are laid out. If one person did decide to smoke, it certainly would affect others in the vicinity.

This was by far one of the best hotels we stayed at. The room was super clean and super comfortable. They had an awesome jacuzzi that you need to check out and the tour of the plantation was incredible. Dinner was incredible, make a reservation as they get booked but it was incredible. The tuna bread dish was one of the best meals ive ever had and our waiter recommended the hummus, to die for. Don't pass up the pineapple cognac dish for desert. The hotel altogether was awesome.

Nice and clean place. Staff were also very nice. Breakfast was really good. However, dinners were inconsistent. One was very good and the other one, not good . Also we feel that the prices during high season were pretty high. Price/value not that good. Booked 2 months in advance. Would suggest to book more last minute for more appropriates prices.

A hidden gem close to everything … we felt cared for by all the staff, especially Edgar. Our room had a balcony, which we enjoyed in the morning and early evening. We took advantage of the jacuzzi inside the pineapple greenhouse and had dinner at the restaurant twice .., highly recommend.

We had an extremely pleasant stay at Herdades do Ananas. The rooms were simple, but very comfortable and the breakfast was exceptionally great. Someone else commented on the jug of coffee, but espresso drinks are available on request. I would recommend having dinner on the property for at least one of your evenings here. The food was better than any of our other meals on the island. The staff spoke English and everyone was very friendly and helpful. I have to give special thanks to Edgar, who served our breakfasts and gave us a tour of the property-with an explanation of how they grow pineapples in the greenhouses there. He always went above and beyond in helping us. It is a little distance from the city center, but we liked the peace and quiet in this setting. Also, it’s an easy taxi ride to the city center or a lot of guests rented a car— and there is plenty of free parking. Highly recommended!

Fiquei com o meu namorado por 4 noites, adorámos a experiência, o staff foi muito simpático e acolhedor, o hotel estava sempre super arrumado e limpo, espaço muito agradável, bonito e cheirava sempre muito bem! Adorámos o pequeno-almoço, tem muita escolha e produtos locais. O estacionamento incluído para quem aluga carro em São Miguel também foi muito útil para nós! Quarto lindíssimo e era arrumado e limpo todos os dias, impecável.

We had an amazing experience at Herdade do Ananas! We stayed a full week and the service was excellent. The answer to every question was yes. We came in part because they said they could accommodate our food allergies and they really did. We had good vegetarian food safe for the allergies every day and we felt very welcome as an LGBTQ couple. The grounds are beautiful and it is close to the city but quiet. The jacuzzi is huge and nice, the restaurant is nice, the room is simple but nice, and the bed is very comfortable. The private balcony is huge. Could not believe the low price. Easy 5 stars!

Great boutique hotel where you can get a very interesting tour of the pineapple plantation. Excellent evening meal which means you don‘t have to go into town to a restaurant. Atmosphere in the dining room is a bit spartan, but quality of ingredients and cooking was very good. They‘ll try to make you drink the pineapple wine which is an interesting experience, but I can‘t imagine many people will finish the bottle. We couldn‘t understand why they don‘t offer a glass as an aperitif. Rooms are comfortable (particularly good beds) and spotless. The one disappointment was breakfast. Why such a good hotel would offer a jug of instant coffee in the morning is a mystery.
