Palácio de Sintra Boutique House

Where to start. This quiet and atmospheric little place is just off the beaten track in Sintra. We booked a week here (which I suspect is unusual, most people day trip to Sintra or only stay a couple of nights). Very glad we did, it was ideal for a relaxing break. Our room was very large, cleaned and fresh towels daily. The ladies Dulce and Isabel were fantastic at looking after guests. Very friendly, happy to answer any query or request. Coffee, biscuits and water available in reception was very welcome after long journey. It’s very unusual a place, stone built, wooden shutters on windows. Little hidden patios. Breakfast was available at €13, we didn’t have it but it looked decent. We loved this place, highly recommended.

You will not find a better location, space, beds or shower. The hotel and rooms are beautiful, clean, spacious and perfectly appointed. But what really makes the Palacio de Sintra Boutique House special is the manager, Dulce. You feel like you've been greeted by family the moment you walk in the door. She knows and loves the area, has great advice for travelers, and lets you in on all the secrets the day trippers from Lisbon miss out on. And, of course, you're a two-minute walk from the center of everything, including the national palace.

A romantic location in the heart of historical Sintra, right next to the oldest hotel in Europe and a stone's throw away from the palace. The room was spacious and comfortable. Dulce (the manager) made us and our little dog feel at home and provided us with a delicious breakfast everyday. We really enjoyed our stay here. A great place to relax y enjoy the magic of Sintra.

This is a better than adequate accommodation. Not luxurious, but meets all requirements. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location! But I had an awful time finding it. There is a single small sign so high up on the building that it’s not in a normal line of sight. And the arrow telling where to walk points the wrong direction. The actual entrance is an unmarked path with an unmarked chain across it. There is no sign on the building. Even as I was standing outside the building, I had to call to find out where it was. I met other guests who had the same experience. Too ridiculous!

Wir hatten ein „Superior“ Zimmer gebucht. Das Hotel liegt in einer Einbahnstraße und hat eine kleine Tür und ein unauffälliges Schild, das man aus einem fahrenden Auto kaum sehen kann. Außerdem gibt es dort keine Haltemöglichkeit. Zu unserer Überraschung führte eine Dame uns um das Haus herum, auf ein Scheunentor zu und öffnete ein muffig riechendes Zimmer mit diversen, auf den ersten Blick sichtbaren Unzulänglichkeiten. Wir monierten sofort, dass wir ein „superior“ Zimmer gebucht hätten und dieses Zimmer definitiv nicht in diese Kategorie fallen würde. Ihre Kollegin sagte uns, dass wir nichts anderes erwarten könnten, wir hätten ja schließlich die kleinste Zimmerkategorie gebucht. SUPERIOR = dreckiges, muffiges Loch mit Komposthaufen vor der Scheunentür? Wir setzen uns sofort mit BDC in Verbindung und reklamierten. Wir übersandten jede Menge Fotos und telefonierten unzählige Male auf Deutsch, Englisch und in gebrochenem Portugiesisch. Das WiFi für unser Zimmer funktionierte nicht, so dass wir alles über mobile Daten (auf unsere Kosten) abwickeln mussten und schließlich, weil der Eigentümer erst spät in der Nacht erreichbar wäre, notgedrungen eine Nacht dort zu verbringen. Das Hotel versuchte mit immer neuen Methoden uns die uns zustehende Rückzahlung zu verwehren, aber mit Hilfe von BDC, bekamen wir eine Zusage über die Rückzahlung von 255€ bei sofortiger Abreise. Am 23.05.22 bekamen wir eine Anfrage zu unseren Bankdaten, die wir aber, weil wir auf der Rückreise waren, erst am 25.05.22 beantworteten. Am 03.06.22 und 06.06.22 mahnten wir die Zahlung erneut an. Bis dato sind weder auf dem Konto noch über die Kreditkarte Rückzahlungen erfolgt. Alle E-Mails und Fotos liegen BDC vor, alle Fotos sind mit GPD-Daten versehen und können einwandfrei dem Hotel zugeordnet werden.

Nous y avons dormi deux nuits et nous en gardons un bon souvenir. Le décor un peu vieillot est amusant, la robinetterie de la salle de bain un peu kitsch, mais fonctionnelle, la chambre suffisamment spacieuse. Petite difficulté à signaler cependant : nous avons réservé via un site en ligne et nous n'avons trouvé personne à notre arrivée. Personne ne répondait à nos appels téléphoniques, heureusement qu'un voisin nous a aidé à faire venir la gérante. A notre demande et à titre de compensation, on nous a offert les petits-déjeuners. Ceux-ci sont convenables, mais pas aux standards de l'hôtellerie "classique". L'expérience globale est donc mitigée.

Very friendly staff/owners. We were given a front door key and could come and go as we pleased but there was always someone there on hand if needed. Rooms were spotless, beds comfortable and everything worked ! We only stayed two nights but would highly recommend this little B & B it was perfect for us and very close to the amenities. We will definitely be back !
