Hotel Riu Cabo Verde - All Inclusive Adults Only

Easy and quick checking in, suitcases brought straight to the room Room had everything you needed mini bar, walk in shower plenty of draw and wardrobe space. The buffet restaurant was amazing you didn’t need to go to the other restaurants breakfast was amazing variety of everything you could think of.

Tivemos que pedir no primeiro dia mudança de quarto pois tinhamos pedido quarto silencioso e puseram-nos logo no primeiro bloco de entrada (barulho dos espetaculos), com a varanda colada a outra (ou seja quando ficavamos na varanda os vizinhos viam-nos perfeitamente e nós a eles). O segundo quarto era espectacular, virado para o mar com vista e sossegado. Relativamente aos vinhos são muito maus, tanta variedade (e portuguesa) que existe.. O café com leite era mauzinho também. Nem sabia a café. Tudo o resto foi espectacular!! Comida excelente, bem organizada e variada. Saliento que a limpeza do quarto era excelente! As senhoras até faziam decorações com as toalhas o que ficámos encantados! As bebidas do bar não tinham muita qualidade.. mas era variada. Adoramos a variedade de espectaculos, de bares, serviços etc que o Hotel Cabo Verde tem. uma coisa que achamos que deveriam ter em atenção é à equipa de animação. Fizeram um trabalho excelente mas achámos em demasia. Estão o dia todo a chamar põr musica alta.. E para quem queria descansar que era o nosso caso não foi sempre possivel.

Having been to a Riu hotel on Boa Vista, we had high expectations of this Riu on Sal. What a disappointment! Rooms: dated, cheaply furnished, unclean in areas, very noisy with endless doors banging from early morning until late at night, staff wheeling noisy trolleys around, air conditioning spasmodic, internet poor. Food - dreadful - we eat most things and are not fussy, but the quality was poor, the flavour - well, non-existent - nearly all the hot dishes were barely warm, cheap ingredients badly cooked. We ate once in the Italian restaurant - asked if we could sit at a different table to the one allocated and waiter said "this is a restaurant, not a pub" - how rude! We were looking forward to being served - wrong! Buffet starter and dessert with limited choice and main course unappetizing and only warm. We ate twice in the Kulinariam restaurant where portions were tiny but in fairness the steak was quite nice. Drinks - everything tastes watered down, from the optics in the rooms to the wine in every restaurant, to the juices at breakfast and so on. Staff - with the exception of the reception staff, they were indifferent, unfriendly, hardly ever smiling and generally made you feel like they were doing you a favour serving you. Bars were understaffed and long queues formed. Entertainment - well, if you want to feel like you're in a retirement home where they're scared you'll die on their watch, take a seat at the pool. The 'entertainment' crew endlessly walked around, clapping and shouting and whoop-whoop-whooping every hour to encourage you to join in darts, volley ball, swim aerobics, archery etc, accompanied by loud music and/or dancing . The chances of just resting, sleeping or reading were nigh on impossible and their noise was incessant - just please SHUT UP!! The pool - insufficient size for the number of guests - beds were so close together it was like a dating site. Oh and the beds - absolutely filthy! Towels? Old, worn and torn. The island - landscape like the moon - rubbish everywhere - very little to see, but the beaches are beautiful.

Not for us thankyou. We found the pool staff untrained and not interested in the way they deal with the guests. They were more interested in chatting with each other. They should be polite and greet us with some respect as ultimately we are paying their wages. Marcio in particular needs to be trained as he was not interested in serving. Even when they were serving they did not engage at all with guests. Management is needed in this bar.

Got a free upgrade from RIU Funana to the adults only Cabo Verde. Both hotels on same plot and mirror images of each other as far as we could tell. Cape Verde holidays are for chilling out and recharging the batteries and that is what we did. The local people are always very friendly and we had a good week. Food was good and plentiful, entertainment good most nights and the Riu White party was excellent. Yes the beds around the pool get busy with most taken by 9am. Santa Maria is a shot taxi ride away ( 5 euro) and has a beautiful beach. Good beach by hotel but sea rougher by hotel than in Santa Maria. Would happily return to this hotel.
