Just the standard RUI Hotel setup…unable to get a booking in any of the specialty restaurants. Buffet restaurants the same repetitive food.
Polite cleaning staff.
Reception staff need to be more customer focussed I arrived at 8pm given a keycard and a map and pointed in the direction of the room…no one to help with baggage. Requested late checkout on the RUI app had it confirmed and then I find keycard not working on the day after spending the morning by the pool headed to reception was told I should have requested this at reception…at no point in time did the app state this. I was told that the bell boy had put a note under my door..that’s ok if I could actually get into the room to read it, but there was no note !
Would not say this is a 5* hotel more a 4*.

Every part of this hotel impressed us. The staff, food and facilities were all great. Small issues with the room (no kettle and faulty hairdryer) were fixed in no time and we had a follow up call from reception to make sure everything was done to our satisfaction which was a nice touch. There are 4 optics in the room (whisky, vodka, rum and gin)and a well stocked fridge. Food was lovely with many variations and there are 3 speciality restaurants as well. There is a rule that the pool doesn't open till 9 am which I think is a brilliant idea as it stops people capturing sunbeds early and makes it fairer for everybody. Really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend

This review is my opinion, and I certainly would not rate this hotel as 5* , it most definitely 3* people say well you are in Africa ! We may well be in Africa but RIU have 5* all over world offering top quality, so why should this be different ! The price for the week vacation does not reflect in the quality of this hotel! Mosquitoes are issue no fault of the hotel , but would say the Island need to manage this in general ! Rooms are tired and dated , need some TLC , although there are big and spacious! Room cleaned daily with fresh towels ! Optics in room don’t bother absolutely disgusting cheap spirits , bars are the same quality ! Poor selection of drinks , lager was ok , wine was also ok! Food was varied and plentiful with 3 other additional restaurants, steak house was good , Italian was average , so was gourmet restaurant. Service was better in 3 restaurants rather slow in buffet restaurant. Queuing for sunbed was a joke in its self , like being a heard of cattle racing for feed! There are only two pools crammed with the guests ! There is some much open space around the hotel which could be better used for more polls instead of sitting on top of each others with no personal space , sun beds are tired and need new cushions ! I personally did not like the town Santa Maria , it was uncomfortable experience. Would I return to this island ! No nothing much to do over rated so many more nicer places to see ! Again this my personal opinion

As soon as we arrived cases taken to the room, I found all the staff very nice & helpful at all times they work very hard. Room was great in block 3 close to pool and restaurants. great food and drinks couldn't fault anything bad with this hotel I would definitely return. White party was fab.

The stay at the RIU hotel was exceptional. The service was top notch, the food was delicious and varied, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The perfect place to relax - both by the pool and on the beautiful beach. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great vacation!

Busy around the pool but miles of beach with plenty of space. Restaurants very good with excellent service from the staff. Difficult to understand why the Italian restaurant wasn't all that busy when it serves such good food. Minor criticism of the sun lounges on the beach - quite a few were broken but there were plenty to choose from. Also our room was starting to show signs of needing redecorating. Overall we had a wonderful time and can't wait to return.

So far from 5*, on arriving we checked in and were given directions to our room and expected to take our luggage ourselves, no offer of help with the stairs etc.which is what you’d usually expect in a 5* hotel. As with other reviews the pool area is a joke, people queue at 9am then dump their towels and leave for hours so there are no sunbeds left if you arrive after 9. Other guests have zero consderation so you have to listen to whatever videos or music other people are playing. The beach is no better, loud music from a very small speaker interrupts everything, like having irritating neighbours where you can hear the beat through the wall. There are no quiet places in the hotel where you can relax. The lobby bar set up doesn’t work, all the tables have 4 chairs but 90% of the guests are in couples so most of the chairs go unused. The food is ok, the staff, for the most part, are lovely and the entertainment in an evening is of a good standard and the daytime stuff seems to be popular - for once the staff don’t bug you all day to join in, which is nice. Some people complained about their rooms but ours was fine and was always cleaned to a high standard. If they rated the hotel as 3* then this would be more accurate.

Booked this holiday for a friend's special birthday, it was a total disappointment, the staff are so miserable and rude, the sunbeds not being available till 9.00 is a total waste of time, they come and 9.00 get beds then leave till afternoon. The entertainment is a disgrace set up waterpolo at the pool then dissappear until the guests have arranged and played their own game then come back to remove the net. The only pleasant member was Valerie always smiling and friendly, she did stay to oversee the match. It's only an adult only hotel through the day, children are allowed in the evening entertainment from the hotel next door. The food is about the only positive thing about this hotel. The cleaners are very happy, the staff in the coffee shop are the worse staff I have ever encountered. We will not return to this miserable hotel
