Villa Del Papa

Villa del Papa is a beautiful guest house located in a small village 10 min from Lucca and not far from Pisa and Viareggio, with a restaurant and a pasticceria in walking distance. The estate is really beautiful, with well groomed grounds and a beautiful garden with a nice swimming pool. The building itself is very well maintained and in a perfect condition. The rooms are immaculately clean and nicely furnished. The only small complaint we had is that the bathroom in our room was a bit small. We could manage, but we are slim and still mobile... The owners are very nice and helpful. Prices are very reasonable, considering the quality of the place and accommodation. So when you are looking for a base for your stay in north-western Tuscany, Villa del Papa can be highly recommended.

What a beautiful hotel, set in idyllic landscape. Very upmarket ambience to the whole place. Daniella the host was just lovely, we’ll be back for sure. Not to mention a beautiful meal in La Quercia Ristorante within 200 yards. Just altogether perfect.

Been here several times in the last 10 years, mostly with my wife and family, this time with my bestie. Daniela and Giovanni are top notch, really friendly, and hard working, always grafting away to keep the place in pristine condition, fabulous accommodation, gardens and pool, a little slice of heaven! The village is so lovely too, very traditional Tuscan experience of the type you’d usually have to go way up into the hills for but they’re only a few hundred yards from the road to Lucca, our favourite Italian town, your there in 10 minutes. If you’re the wandering type like me there’s a network of terrific walks on your doorstep, ranging from light 20 minute strolls on the level to challenging 2-3 hour hikes, all from your front door. Great cafe, bar, pizzeria greengrocers and butchers all on your doorstep. What’s not to love, a little know gem! Xx

Wonderful estate, kept up super well with lots of attention to detail. It’s actually much bigger than one would expect. The owners live in the main building, which is nice. Their English is very well and they’ve got you covered when it comes to recommendations. We had rented an apartment, which is quite useful if you want to cook. The kitchen was quite equipped functionally but was missing a few essentials, like oil, salt/ pepper, a kitchen towel, or a small pot. Watch out: I you’re charged an additional 50€ in case you don’t clean it accurately at checkout. Air condition in the apartment is a plus, although we didn’t use it. There is construction going next door - the owners are remodeling another large villa. The construction noise during the day is quite significant. The village a conveniently located in between Pisa and Lucca. Super nice, but tiny - still everything’s there from a small for very store to a bakery and a pizzeria.

Una bellissima esperienza. Struttura molto bella immersa nel verde, pulita, elegante e accogliente, comoda per raggiungere sia Pisa che Lucca. Personale molto cortese e disponibile. Per la colazione ci si può recenare alla buonissima pasticceria vicina. Consigliato vivamente.

Comfortable, clean and nicely modernised de luxe room with modern, functional bathroom. Comfy beds. Room a bit cold as we stayed during a chilly weekend. Nice view to the main building and partly the garden. Very quiet place, well maintained. Nice pool area in the garden with sunbeds. Santa Maria del Guidice is a quiet and cosy little town by the foot of the hills. The nearby cafe was closed for vacation so we had to organise our own breakfast on the terrace. Frequent bus connections to Lucca and Pisa. Friendly and helpful hosts.
