Wonderful place!
Vicki and Mitch are amazing hosts! So friendly and helpful, they gave wonderful recommendations for things to do and see as well as places to eat. They will also cook you dinner if you want to stay in for the night. (Mitch does a great job with both breakfast and dinner!) The hotel itself is adorable and I loved being enclosed inside the castle walls and right next to the castle, a very unique experience. Our room was quite large with an amazing view, be sure to get a room with a balcony if you can but don’t worry if you can’t, there is also a roof top terrace for everyone to enjoy! There is so much to experience in this area, I would definitely come back here again and stay longer!

Um presente para o corpo e para a alma!
Voltamos para casa renovados, após a nossa estada no The Place at Evoramonte.
Ambiente confortável, aconchegante. Vista belíssima. Boa comida e bons vinhos. Mas o principal foram o acolhimento e o carinho dedicados, desde o primeiro momento, pelo casal Vicki e Mitch.

Best stay
Fantastic stay. Good to get off the main stream and enjoy the quiet with amazing home cooking. Stay here could not have been better. Everyone should take the opportunity.

A return visit for us to this wonderful location with stunning views. Mitch and Vicki are fabulous hosts and made us feel completely at ease in this quiet haven. We were able to sit in the terrace and watch some amazing sunsets whilst enjoying a glass of excellent local wine. We will definitely be returning to The Place.

When the sun is out - as it invariably is in this part of the world - the 'place' really is heaven on earth. On a long sun soaked day, there is nothing better than to sit with a glass of wine - or two - and just absorb the view from your balcony area. The vista really is incredible, and the skies are huge. On this, our fourth visit, we even had the perfect view of a once in 80,000 years comet whilst enjoying our evening meal. The hosts really are so good, they probably even managed to organise that for us all. If you choose to come here, you too will want to return.

Vicky and Mitch were warm and personable when we arrived and stayed that way until we left. They created a relaxed, friendly atmosphere in the guest house and public areas and were very professional in an understated way. Nothing was too much bother even organising a local farmer to rescue his goat from the top of a mountain that we found trapped there when cycling. The surrounding countryside is stunning and the views panoramic. Breakfast a perfect mix of local produce and deliciously cooked eggs ..your choice. Wonderful stay! We hope to be back.

Having visited the Alentejo many times this was our first time in Evoramonte. And, in particular at The Place, run by Vicky and Mitch. And what a place! Set high up on the hill overlooking the valley, with spectacular views, the rooms we had were cosy but totally in keeping with the old part of the building. And with the most comfortable beds. We were there to celebrate birthdays with friends and they made us feel so welcome. From the moment we arrived with the cakes and bubbles, the fabulous bbq served to us on their terrace, the help and support in booking activities and restaurants, to even helping us rescue a goat that we discovered caught in a fence in the middle of nowhere! That was way beyond the realms of their duty. I say duty but nothing seemed like a duty to them. On the contrary it seemed like a passion. And for us it felt like a home from home. All this coupled with the ideal location for exploring the Alentejo means that, for us at least, it really is The Place to stay.

The secluded, peaceful location on top of a mountain is amazing! Vicki and Mitch have created a paradise for travelers looking for a unique experience. We stayed in Room 1 (there are only 4) with a huge patio terrace and spectacular views of the region. All of the accommodations are modern including marble bathrooms with rain showers and plenty of hot water. The bed and pillows were superb. There are a lot of wonderful niches/places to just relax, read or meditate. Breakfast was excellent. The hosts could not do enough for you and provided comprehensive information on the area, including maps and food recommendations. You can also have dinner with them if you don't want to go down to the village below. A unique and memorable property!

We just finished an amazing 3 night stay at The Place Evoramonte! These accommodations sit high on a hill right next to a castle… and the view is spectacular! Mitch and Vicki were such wonderful hosts. They meet our every need. The included breakfasts were delicious… fresh squeezed juice, variety of coffees, cooked to order eggs and omelets plus a variety of of cheeses, meats, breads and more. Dinners were available and we enjoyed every selection… especially the pizza. I’m going to let the pictures help tell the story.
