These apartments are nicely fitted out and comfortable. However it is let down by small things, rubbish from the last guest still in the kitchen bin and bathroom and so on. The included breakfast was trying hard, but three day old stale croissants were really not up to scratch by any analysis.

Beautiful, relaxing and homely hotel in a great location in Sandy Bay. Lovely in-room touches like having the heating and radio on on arrival. Great resources regarding local walks etc. Too which was a lovely touch. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a stay near Hobart.

Robert was gracious enough to allow us to take the whole mansion as a group, 15 of us in total. In saying that, though, THIS will also be my new go-to place when travelling as a couple. We all loved our stay and ALL really appreciated our rooms and attention to detail with the service. Not only were the breakfasts outstanding, but there were complimentary port and chocolates every night and champagne on arrival. Robert looked after us for the entire weekend in superb style. The rooms are spacious, immaculately clean and tatstefully decorated with every modern amenity. In short The Rivulet excels in offering both luxury and privacy. I will definitely return, whether hiring one room or all. The service was exceptional, the staff respectful of personal space. It's the perfect getaway for those seeking a private, high-end retreat. Highly recommend.

This was our second stay and we booked the Garden Room. Exceptional accommodation which is a separate building at the rear of the main house, so it is very quiet. The same tasteful but comfortable furnishings as the other rooms but the garden room has a fully accessible bathroom which is huge and very luxurious. We had a truly lovely 2 night stay and I can’t think of any negatives. Breakfast at the shared dining table was lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed chatting to other guests. I can’t recommend the Rivulet enough, it is fantastic value for money and I would highly recommend it, particularly the Garden Room.

Stayed at this hotel a few years ago with the old managers and owners running it. We loved it so much, we came back. New management have let the place run down to the ground. Rooms are filthy, smelly, airless, mouldy and in very run down condition. We couldn’t open the windows to get any fresh air and it was very hot in summer. The room smelt so rotten (sour milk rotting in carpet),and with no fresh air, we couldn’t sleep. Called the owner to ask to move to a different room on the phone (no staff on site) but after five phone calls over four days and no answer, we gave up. Disappointing as we had traveled so far and spent so much money to stay here. Breakfast was frozen, generic home brand bread which we had to find ourselves in the freezer. We could not find anything else to eat even though we had paid for a continental breakfast. Don’t stay here unless you would like to feel disappointed, disrespected and completely ripped off.

A beautiful B and B with old world charm. Very comfortable beds and beautiful bathrooms. We booked 2 rooms at the rear of the property which were quiet and had a view to Mt Wellington. Delicious breakfast.

Beautiful setting and the room was lavishly decorated. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was enormous. Reverse cycle air conditioning worked perfectly. Lots of hot water for the shower and there was an ample bath too. Breakfast was a wonderful array of cereals, fruits, cold meats, cheese and breads. My only criticism would be the lack of a small bar fridge as you may want to have a cold drink. They do have ice available but it can be a messy process. I would stay again and there are plenty of dining options nearby. They have a lounge for you to enjoy too with complimentary port.
