Villa Blanca Cloud Forest Hotel & Retreat

Lovely location and excellent staff all so friendly and helpful. Some lovely facilities like the bar and lounge area, even what looked like a fantastic cinema room which we didn’t use but overall slightly tried. The food was good from a fairly long menu, which is the same for lunch and dinner. Great large en-suite bedroom but whilst the fire place is a nice idea the wood is too damp and the whirlpool bath a great idea but not with cold water. The guided nature walk was excellent, we learnt and saw so much with the very knowledgeable guide.

Amazing place to stay, feels like literally living in the clouds. Weather can be a little unpredictable and adds to the mystique of the place. The last 30 mins of the drive to the place can be a little rough, recommend getting there before sunset on your first time.

To start with the positive: the staff is incredibly friendly, helpful and well-trained but the hotel itself needs serious work. It rained and misted without interruption (it’s after all a CLOUD hotel) making everything damp. We stayed in the Presidential Suite which has been newly and well-renovated. Spacious, anttractiv and well-equipped- which it should be for $400-600 a night. The fireplace is- great if only the wood were dry. We had no hot water for 2 days because, even after asking someone to come fix it, no one told us that you have to adjust the shower “just so”. That was the management’s fault, probably not the staff. The facilities are pretty run down. The dining room is dark and anything but inviting. The food is simple and starchy and pretty heavy. All in all more a backpacker try hotel than a Villa.

Decidí pasar el dia con mi familia en este hotel y conocer de paso el lugar. Todo bien llegando a San Ramón de Alajuela pero luego se debe tomar un camino de lastre y en muy malas condiciones para llegar al hotel. Este camino fue de 8 kms. Almorzamos en el restaurante en donde la comida no fue nada deliciosa y en donde los precios demasiados altos con respecto a la calidad recibida. El lugar está bien pero el personal que atiende debería estar mas capacitado para la atención al cliente. En mi opinión muy personal, no volvería a visitarlo por la incomidad del camino y la calidad regular de los alimentos. Tienen un menú muy limitado.

Fabulous stay! Villa Blanca is a fantastic, eco friendly resort located in a cloud rain forest. Extremely customer service focused team, led by Marco E. and staff. Highly recommended and we hope to return in the future. Skilled birding and biologist guides, great trails and a lively spa too! Food quality was exceptional.

Best anniversary date ever What an incredible experience! The best staff ever everyone super friendly and helpful! They made our anniversary night super especial! From the spa to dinner to breakfast the best experience! Room amazing ! nice hot tub , amazing fire pit! One of the best hotel experiences ever had and we travel all over the world! Will recommend to everyone to come and stay in this hotel !
