Avoid Sunclub Apartments – You’ll Need Another Holiday to Recover! We recently stayed at Sunclub Apartments in Cap Salou as a group of 15 family members. I had booked a 2-bedroom apartment, confirmed via email by the hotel manager, Paula. But when we arrived, the receptionist Alice gave us keys to a 1-bedroom apartment. When I told her it was wrong, her attitude was basically “What do you want me to do about it?” After hours of back and forth, we were told nothing could be done until the manager came in the next day. Apparently, no one else has the authority—or the will—to sort anything out. When Paula arrived, she offered a sea view as compensation. I explained I wanted the room I booked, not a view. Shockingly, she then tried to sell me another 1-bed apartment for £850—even though the mistake was entirely theirs! And it wasn’t just us. My sister and her family (a group of 5) also had a confirmed 2-bedroom booking. Alice casually told her she’d just given their room to someone else. You honestly couldn’t make it up. It eventually got sorted after a few hours, but again, they acted like they were doing her a favour. Daytime bar staff were hopeless—asking for something from the menu felt like a game of University Challenge. We had to start using item numbers to get served. However, the bar staff at night were lovely—friendly, helpful, and totally different from the daytime team. Credit where it’s due, the cleaning staff were also spot on and worked really hard. The hotel shop is tiny and overpriced, and the staff claim there are no other shops nearby, which isn’t true—there’s a Michelangelo supermarket just down a steep hill. And to get into Salou, you’ll need taxis or buses, as it’s quite isolated. Bottom line: I’d avoid this hotel. The service is disorganised and unprofessional, and while a few staff were great, the overall experience left us more stressed than relaxed.
