Wonderful 2 week holiday , booking offered by TUI as last minute alternative to the Golden Donaire in La Pineda due the noise from La Pineda promenade building and renovation work ( looks like a very big, messy and lengthy project poss 1 years disruption). The Golden Port Salou hotel is excellent in a brilliant location with 15 walk to main shops and then a few minutes to the beach. They have a secure exit door located at back of poolside restaurant as a shortcut from walking around from the front main hotel entrance . Lovely spacious pool and terrace areas, no problems getting sun beds and no sunbed police but maybe sunbeds busier as season gets more underway, we stayed last 2 weeks May. The hotel is kept fresh, well run, and spotless by an army of helpful , friendly staff. The rooms are really well appointed, and comfortable with everything you need including tea and coffee, free safe ( always had to pay for a safe ), 4 english tv chanels but free access to numerous wi fi TV channels including You Tube. We took a firestick but didn't need !!. Towels and bed linen changed as often as you wish. Balcony very private and roomy with drying rack. Air con worked but a little weak. The restaurant is as good as you will read in other reviews, so i will just add a few point from my observations.....Full range of dietary requirements catered for, plus all the goodies for folk without dietary requirements e.g full english including baked beans , ( we stayed at the H10 playa Cambrills last year and they didn't know what baked beans were ). 4 quite speedy double toasters, didn't experience queuing. 2 Microwaves for extra hot breakfast and general food , porridge, milk, heat ups. Lots of coffee and tea machines so no queuing. Cava / Smoked Salmon is available at breakfast daily for those who like to start the day with a bucks fizz !! and a treat. Complimentary bottled water is available breakfast and dinner. I would stress that we came down for breakfast between 8am ( opening time ) and 8.45am, and after these times it did get busy. All inclusive guest had wristbands everyone else had a dinner card which had meals crossed off each time you went in restaurant ,and you could swap dinner for lunch. My only gripe was the cost to upgrade to All inclusive from Half board. I thought £40 each per day was steep for privilige of extra lunches and drinks. The indoor pool bar restaurant was perfectly adequate for hot lunch meals and reasonably priced. Hotel bar drinks well priced, evening entertainment very good but comes on quite late ( 10pm). daily poolside activities were quite basic , no keep fit in pool, but water was very cold !! so maybe not such a good idea, possibly more water aerobics later in season when pool water warms up. The very nearby Salou main town is full of shops , restaurants and a lovely small local park to stroll around. Good local small supermarkets. Tobacco shops for your ciggies ( £45 to £75 for 200 ). The local inexpensive Plana buse
