Facilities were great, breakfast excellent, welcome rather cold

Good service, comfortable bed, good parking. Everything you eould expect from a Premier Inn. I had been there before was put off by the bad reviews but decided to try again anyway. It's not 5 star but is not meant to be. Would certainly use again

Comfortable and clean bed. Restaurant run really well by Vicky and her team. I had a lovely tea of tomato soup and followed by ice-cream the team were efficient and very willing to help.

I use Premier Inn all the time, usually comfortable and well maintained and convenient for food. I have stayed at this one about six times now. Originally the restaurant was at the end of the building and served basic but acceptable food. Last year this closed and the restaurant is now on the ground floor by reception. Stayed two weeks ago and the service was absolutely dire in the restaurant - staff chatting to each other by the till but not scanning to see if customers wanted to order etc. I had to keep asking staff to order, then for my food, then for dessert, then to pay. Staying again now and went for meal to be told - not apologised to - that food was delayed because “I’ve only got one chef in” - the tone and style of this ‘communication’ was appalling - not a hint of apology for delay etc. The food is very basic and menu limited - so I chose to go elsewhere. The hotel is tired for a Premier Inn and needs tidying up - it’s clean, the beds as always are fine and there is plentiful car parking - but it needs bringing back up and the restaurant staff need some customer service input.

Was disappointed to receive a warning that the hotel was being renovated while we were staying - but we went anyway as we planned to be out a lot of the time. Apart from the barriers around the car park it didnt actually affect us, and we were in for part of one afternoon. Our room was in the annexe and was quiet. Room was mostly clean - teaspoons needed washing again as they were not clean enough to suit my wife. We were also very short of coffee but fortunately my wife had picked up a couple of extra sachets and some milk at reception. The armchair was comfortable but there was plenty of room for 2 and it would have been good to have 2 comfortable chairs and a coffee table. Bath has high sides, meaning you might struggle to get in and out if raising your legs high is an issue for you. Breakfast is in a small space so tables are crammed up together and on one morning the coffee machine showed only black coffees, although that was quickly rectified by a member of staff once drawn to her attention. Bacon sticks together so when you think you are taking a single piece it's likely to be 2. Nice blueberry muffins. As the restaurant is so small display is also limited and you had to ask for some items, like scrambled egg. Decided not to eat dinner there but our choice of pub was not great. Laverstock had both a fish and chip shop and a chinese takeaway. Even with windows left open as far as possible before our arrival and all night the room was still hot. We had a fairly large fan, which helped. Good value and close to park and ride - although they only run 2 buses an hour and one of those didnt turn up. The cathedral charges £10 for all day parking and saves the walk from the park and ride bus stop.
