SureStay Plus Hotel by Best Western Salida

They screwed up our reservation. We reserved a room for 5 nights (Wednesday-Sunday) to get a discount rate, but for a yet unexplained reason, they said they had to renew our reservation after two nights. Because their policy is clean the rooms every other day, our room was not cleaned for 4 days. We complained and it was cleaned the day before we departed. Plus, one of our group was supposed to get the same discount rate, but didn’t. The front desk guy was glib in denying the discount rate to one of our party memebers. On the positive side the hotel is nice with beautiful Mountain View’s and their breakfast manager, Jim did a fabulous job!

Decent location on the strip at the edge of downtown. Entrance to parking lot is not well-signed and easy to miss. Hotel is newer and in good condition. Room was fine, quite large and modern, but all of the soaps and shampoos were empty in the bathroom - I guess the last guest had used them all? Really should be something that housekeeping checks. The hairdryer cord was also frayed and unreliable and someone who presumably doesn't like nightlights had taken the bulb from it. So some maintenance and service challenges but on balance a good stay in a good location.

This is a very nice hotel….probably the newest in town! Our room was great…2 Q suite! There are 2 problems at this hotel! The first being housekeeping …..we arrived early, and our room was not ready….come back about 3…check in time! We came back about 3:15….room still not ready….sat in the lobby until about 4:15 until room was ready. They did apologize! We put out the Do not disturb sign for the first day…. The Second day I did not put out the sign…we were gone from 9 to 2…..assuming our room would be cleaned! When we returned, the maid had been in the room, taken out the trash…and done NOTHING else! I told the person at the front desk when we went out later….response was…maybe you have to ask for service! I mentioned it at checkout…that person apologized! The second problem was breakfast! The first day we went down about 7ish….no muffins…few slices of bread….only green apples! This is a hotel used by lots of male workers ….need replenishing of food! Did not bother going down the next 2 mornings! Also was never recognized as a HH member…..

Outrageously bad service. We had no TV remote and waited two hours before the single staff member on duty could respond, in vain. In itself no big deal maybe, but the on-duty manager, name of Christy Wing, was unable to address our problem. Why? Because she decided to go see a fireworks display instead of being at the hotel, which was full. For $300-plus, you expect at least a modicum of service. I would urge everyone to think twice before booking here.

The hotel seemed to have updates all around the hotel. The staff was great and willing to assist when needed. Our group was treated as family. I would recommend anyone to stay at this property. Definitely one of the best places to stay in Salida.

We stopped at the Hampton Inn in Salina on a Sunday night. We were told that they were booked. Very few cars in the lot and I could have stood in front by of the desk and made a reservation online. Either you have a problem with your computer system or employees that don’t understand the system.
