Hostellerie la Fontaine

We had a bit of a tough experience. The staff was very nice, however the experience was all around hard. We booked because it had free parking & free breakfast, however the parking is over a 5 min walk to the hotel (and another 3 flights up to the room with no elevator). Lord help you if you have heavy luggage or an injury. We learned this after trying to follow Google maps and nearly getting our car stuck in the small streets of the walking-only town. The room itself was nice, but the AC was pretty minimal. In the middle of the night we moved the mattress to the living room area because the AC was working better in there. Also, the sheets and the towels were so incredibly scratchy… I’ve never experienced anything like it at a hotel. When we woke up for breakfast before our flight around 7:45am, we couldn’t find anyone awake, so we left for the airport without eating. This would be a great spot to stay for a few days if you don’t mind lots of stairs, but for a quick in and out it wasn’t a great pick and not worth the price.

Just ate in this restaurant the terrasse is nice in the old street of St paul de Vence. I am writing this review just because of the waiter as he was Exceptional. This young guy on the terrasse need to be rewarded as he was always having a smile on not one table had any complaint and he was just effective. I took the poulpe salad and it was great but without this waiter the place will be somewhat. Go to have a beer or wine it is great amd relax.

recu en cadeau une wonderbox 3 jours , 2 nuits a l,hostellerie de la fontaine , sejour très moyen : pas de verre ni gel douche dans la chambre , serviette de toilette tachée par de la javel , boite de café en poudre semie ouverte avec un fon d de cafe séché , pas de chambre faite entre 2 nuits et forte odeur de cuisine remontée dans la chambre !!!! visiblement cet hotel ne repose que sur son emplacement ideal en pleine zone pietonne du village !!! decevant !! j 'oubliais !! recus par une employee au pull tout taché!! vraiment decevant!!

We picked this place in beautiful Saint Paul de Vence as it was one of several restos recommended by the friendly staff at the tourist information counter. It’s also because we thought it would be nice to have lunch in a place right in the middle of everything, next to the fountain…and the shop selling gelato. Lol. La Fontaine is a cosy little place, and family-run. We were the first to arrive and dined out on the terrace. For drinks, my friend had the “Red Witch” (yikes), made of strawberry juice, rhubarb bitters and pepper, while I had the refreshing “Le Gouter d’Alice” with biscuit syrup, lemon cream, lemon juice and Italian meringue. (A bit like drinking a lemon tart!) There’s also a drink called “Evil Queen” (haha), made of apple juice, tonic juice and almond syrup. We had their two most popular dishes - the Daube of Beef Chuck (braised slowly for nine hours, to perfection) and the Aioli du Moment, with seasonal fish and Lactonesa (eggless mayo) with black garlic. My beef stew dish looked way more appetising and as expected, the meat was tender and fell away easily. The potato was lovely but very filling. The fish aioli dish was nice too, but the photo doesn’t do it justice. I was so full that I had to skip dinner!!

En nous promenant dans les rues de Saint Paul nous avons découvert ce resto. Jolie petite terrasse ombragée Accueil très sympa Bonne cuisine excellent tiramisu ananas et fruit de la passion Nous avons passé un très bon moment au cœur du village

Magnifique ! Quelle belle surprise, loin du tumulte touristique et à l abri d une jolie terrasse vous découvrirez une adresse qui vaut le detour. Un accueil parfait et chaleureux et surtout une cuisine délicieuse et audacieuse. On retournera avec grand plaisir.
