Gîte les Palmistes

The host Fred picked us from the airport in brand new Dacia Sandero, the car which we rented from Fred for 8 days of our stay in Guadeloupe. On our arrival the hosts brought us a big bowl of fruit from their garden and invited us for a drink and a chat. The host was sociable and helpful always interested in our next day plans. We loved the quiet location of the accommodation. The nearest supermarket Carrefour was around 5 minutes by car. The cottage was equipped with the kitchen in the patio which we regarded as a huge plus. Breakfast at 6am while watching the sunrise was an exciting experience. There were both the air conditioner and the fan in the room, however, we used only the fan which worked silently and didn't interfere with the quality of our sleep. The only disadvantage was rather poor Internet connection. At the end of our stay the host drove us to the cruise ship terminal where we boarded the ship. A piece of advice: if you are a beach fan, then staying in Grande Terre is perfect with you. However, if your priority is hiking and sightseeing, then I would recommend to stay in Basse Terre to save time. Though the distances are short, there are always traffic jams.
