Retallack Resort

Although we stayed in one of the supposedly luxury bungalows, we found the interior to be finished in cheap furnishings. It was very tired looking to the outside of the property with rusty outdoor furniture. The setting was very unkempt considering the rest of the site. We were also surprised that we were only given one toilet roll per bathroom and it would have been a nice gesture to have been given toiletries. The windows to the property in particular the patio doors were filthy. The entertainment was it to our taste. Despite this, we thought the location was very central to our needs and the site was clean.

This was the 2nd time we stayed at Retallak and we loved it again! Great location for getting out and about to explore the area. On site the accommodations are lovely, spacious and clean. We opt to have a hot tub, as the kids love that. Gym on site is small but you have weights and a variety of machines too. We did the waterpark and the wave rider, which the kids loved. We'd thoroughly recommend.

We were blown away by the lodge. We were given a luxury lodge. Was very much value for money and more. We had everything we could have possibly wanted. The bed in the master room was very comfortable, but would have been better if there was something that could cover the two mattresses pushed together. We would have loved to have had salt and pepper in the lodge. Overall..everything was perfect, and we had a really lovely trip away. Location is great, as not too far from the motorway so did lots of exploring.

The Retallack Spa and Resort is advertised as “luxury” accommodation. This is false advertising in all honesty. For starters, the staff were lovely and I didn’t have any issues with their service. The issues however only appeared when we walked into our “Luxury” Apartment. Dead flies on the inside of the window; spiders all over the apartment; the bathroom had a broken bath plug and a broken toilet flusher. Not to mention that the sofa had a weird stain on it. Very questionable as to what that could be. There were stains on the kitchen cupboards and cutlery that wasn’t properly cleaned. The bathroom door (if you can even call it that) had chips in it and you can’t even lock it for any privacy at all. Oh and there was a duck taped section on the floor in the bathroom where there was clearly a broken tile that they never bothered to fix. We didn’t receive any coasters or place mats for eating and drinking at the apartment. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable, I woke up with back pain and I’m literally 22. Not to mention that it was extremely warm to even sleep in as there’s no air con and you can feel the heat from the apartment below you. The sofa too was ridiculously uncomfortable and felt like the cheapest material money could buy. Verdict? Do not stay here if you actually are looking for a luxury apartment or lodge. You would probably be better sleeping on a pavement.

Not a great place to stay.Unless your previous holiday homes have been on fire,or a tarpaulin draped over a couple of wheelie bins you will be disappointed with this.For starters we didn't get the lodge that was in the pictures when booking,then on the first night we had to get maintanance out as the lights kept tripping out.Hot tub cover broken,hob temperamental,blown bulbs,the whole place generally run down.The park itself not much better with the water park not open.No breakfast being served at all but we did manage to get dinner in the resteraunt,although they did get my sons order wrong,and completely forgot to serve our deserts.We also managed a hour in the swimming pool,but our hopes of something going well went south when we found the changing rooms were closed and we had to wait our turn to get changed in the disabled toilets!.All in all not a great place to stay but we will be back to cornwall next year as it is a fantastic part of the country,I do hasten to add though I would sleep on the bonnet of my car before I came back here.

We stayed at number 31 Hillside for 4 weeks. It was a double and a twin roomed barn with en-suite and full sized bathroom. I have limited mobility and this was fabulous. I walk with a frame and found it easy enough for me to get around. The main bedroom is a good size and was very comfortable. We had a hot tub but I wasn’t able to get in unfortunately. These are looked after by a nice team. Especially Brandon who was always pleasant and respectful, he worked hard. Then there’s Jen from Birmingham. She’s magic so good at her job. I have tried to deal with others but to no avail. She made our stay! Being kind, caring and compassionate. She really tried her hardest to support us and our needs. We found it so peaceful and a real bolt hole for those that want to get away from it. Beautiful bed linens and towels and plenty of them. Nice furniture and contemporary feel. Nice ovens and microwaves Accessible for people with limited mobility. Easy to use showers. Nice decking and patio area. My family all came to visit and we purchased a bbq online and had it delivered direct to the barn. I just asked Jen if I needed something extra and she had it delivered. Such a lovely break.
