We just got home from 8 nights at Martinhal Sagres. We stayed in a 2 bedroom 'Garden House' which was spacious and pleasantly decorated. The accommodation was pretty good value as we travelled 'off peak', knowing we were likely to have bad weather (which we did, more about that shortly). Our house was well located, close to the "village" with childcare, indoor + outdoor swimming, the Os Gambezinos restaurant and M-bar, and a small shop. The Reception building where breakfast was held in the O Terraco restaurant was not much further away. The house itself had comfy beds and a decent little kitchen, big dining table, comfy sofas, and nice bathrooms too. Only complaints really are that noise travelled a lot as the downstairs is entirely open plan and hard floors everywhere, so we were constantly tiptoeing around trying not to wake the baby. Also there was some fluffy mould in the kitchen which was not cleaned up for a few days. They supplied a couple of laundry and dishwasher tablets which was enough for us, but no washing up liquid/sponges so would recommend bringing some. The grounds are beautiful, cute cobbled streets (annoying for pushchairs but so so pretty) and really well maintained with nice plants etc so walking around was super nice. Would definitely recommend bringing a sling/carrier if you have a little one as the step-free routes are much longer, and it's a very bumpy ride over the cobbles and up and down pavements. Probably the most impressive thing of our whole stay was the childcare - we had our 7 month old in the Nursery for one session a day, and it was absolutely brilliant. The staff were lovely and made her feel so at ease, she'd never been left with anyone other than close family before so we were very nervous about it but they looked after her perfectly, got her to sleep when she needed naps, and even sent her home with a cute hand print painting for Portuguese father's day. They were relaxed about pick up and drop off times so we often dropped her off late and/or picked up early if it suited us. We also had babysitters twice for a couple of hours in the evening after baby had gone to bed, they were the same staff we had met in the nursery so they already knew our baby, and again they did a wonderful job. The spa is fab, we had massages and mani/pedi and both were lovely, and we also used the steam room and sauna multiple times during nursery hours (it's a great bad weather activity!) The food was decent, not amazing but decent, especially if you're into fish/seafood. The half board meal supplement was 40eur per person to include one 3-course meal per day, which made sense for us. For the other meal we would get something to take away while baby napped, eat at a weird time at M-bar, or make something simple at the house with groceries from the nearby Intermarche. One less good point is that there was a huge storm near the beginning of our stay resulting in a long overnight powercut, followed by patchy power the follow
