1) this is not a hotel as you know it. There is no front desk or staff. You need a code to enter the building, a code to get to floor 2, a code to get into the room. It's an automated turn key system. 2) they want you to "check in" with a web link. BUT Agoda blocks any links sent thru its messaging system. The hotel say, "REMEMBER BEFORE YOU ENTER THE ROOM YOU MUST CHECK IN THEN SEND THE DOCUMENTS FOR REGISTRATION OR DO IT ONLINE". But you can't use the "online" web link to check in because you won't get it because Agoda blocks links in messages "for your safety". So, how can you check in? How can you get to your room? You can't if you don't get the online link! 3) because of all of this automated setup, they want you to email them your passport. That's not secure! An online check in system could take that securely, but not email! But guess what .. I didn't get a link to the online check in!! 4) they are very very slow to respond. I'm not sure the person is even in Rome. It took 8hrs to try to message with them about all of this. At that point, it was raining, getting dark, I can't check in, the address given is wrong so I was walking around. So I booked another place. For hours I heard nothing from them. By the time they started responding, I had moved on. 5) the address in Agoda they list is NOT the address. It will take you near a park but the actual "hotel" is 1.5 blocks down the road on the opposite side. Not even close. 6) in the end, they made me pay despite the fact I couldn't check in. I asked them to send the web link to my email, no response. By the time they started responding it was hours later. They didn't care I didn't get the link. They say it was my fault. 7) they want you to download Whatsapp to make it easier for them. I have a government agency phone & told them I can't download. What "hotel" asks you to book thru Agoda BUT check in outside the app or require you to use Whatsapp. You shouldn't required to use 3rd party apps & web links. I booked thru the app. I expect to walk up, check in at the desk (like hotels do), and get into my room. NOT with this place. 8) they tried to say I couldn't leave a review. But I paid, so I'm a customer, so I can. They want it both ways; ie, you're a customer, you didn't show up, you still pay, but then you can't leave a review? Huh? I would NOT use this "hotel". Too much hassle. There are 1000 places to rent in Rome covering all prices, locations, stars on any given day. They ruined my final night in Rome! I booked another hotel in 5 minutes & was in my room in 15 minutes. Easy as it should be. I book hotels world wide 25x a year. I know what I'm doing. I use all the apps. I'm not new to this. I don't know where the responder is even located. Save the headache and go elsewhere. It is their issue for not knowing Agoda blocks external links and it's Agodas issue for blocking links. I can prove all of this with screenshots.
