Perfection Personified. Having studied previous reviews I approached the holiday with great trepidation. The reality could not have been more different. To say we had a wonderful holiday would be an understatement. From start to finish simply wonderful. Historically I was Head of Events for a large international Corporate visiting hotels around the globe including Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton Fairmont Mandarin Oriental to name just a few. This hotel does not sell itself as 5* pure luxury. It does exactly what it says on the tin and more. The food is excellent and in 12 days we did not get bored (I am no stranger to fine dining.) The staff are simply lovely. In the vein of trying to establish what exactly bods are complaining about I spoke to as many guests as I could about their experience. Everyone I spoke to were delighted with their choice of hotel and echoed my experience of food and service. I can only conclude that the visitors that did have a problem did not give the hotel a chance to correct whatever the issue was. I go to 5* hotels every year in Cancun, Dominican Republic, Barbados and Nashville and this hotel as a 4* is great value for money. I think apples must be compared with apples. My holiday was a resounding success and I truly am a difficult lady to please. Long may SoCo House continue to bring wonderful experiences to us. I will definitely return.

Today is our last day at this hotel. We have had such a fantastic week. The holiday had been fantastic value for money. The staff are fantastic nothing is to much trouble, and the service is so personal. We have enjoyed the different dishes on the menu, we have not had a bad meal. We haven't struggled to get a sunbed during our stay. We enjoyed a massage in the spa it was the best ive had! The cocktails are plentiful. I have to mention Charles, Chester and Jamal on the bars they are so much fun and entertained us during our stay. Leanna in the resturant has been so lovely to us in the mornings greeted us with a beaming smile. This hotel is a gem. If your looking for a quiet relaxing break this hotel is for you! We have met lots new friends. We are going home relaxed and recharged. We will be back! Thank you to all the staff for making our holiday so lovely.

Where to start? To explain, it’s difficult to make this brief in order to give a balanced view so I apologise for the length of this review. We are very easy going and in general we don’t tend to complain. We take most things in our stride, after all we are all human, mistakes can happen but here in most cases, even the minor issues that we would normally overlook just built up and even a saints patience would be tried! It started before we left. It took 3 emails to get a simple reply to a question relating to possibly having some information about the trips the Hotel can arrange so we could plan our time there. Eventually we had a reply, very basic info, no dates, times or costs but at least a reply. BASIC, NOT A MAJOR ISSUE! I also requested if at all possible for a room on the East side so we had the possibility of seeing the sunset and having the sun in the evening on our balcony. I received a reply and as usual it was the ‘we’ll make a note but it cannot be guaranteed’ – that’s fine, it’s what I expected, I can but hope. We arrived and were told yes I saw your note and I have accommodated your request – great I thought. Wrong, we were put on the West side as it is nearest to the sunset but obviously the balcony faces east so the only way to see the sunset was from the corridor along the back of the 2nd floor rooms. Not like sitting on your balcony with a glass of something cold watching the sun go down, nobody is going to sit and watch from the corridor! To be fair when I highlighted their error they did offer another room on the correct side that was available the following day, however it was the only one tucked in the corner with restricted view of the sunset and very little sun on the balcony so we decided to stay where we were as we just wanted to unpack and get settled in as we are only here for a week. BASIC, NOT A MAJOR ISSUE! Apart from that the welcome when we arrived was great, very friendly and greeted with a glass of fizz and a cold damp flannel. We were also advised we must attend the orientation meeting at 10a.m. the following day. We did, having delayed a visit to the comfort of the pool and a possible sunbed (that’s another story), but by 10.20 when no one appeared I spoke to reception to check if there was a meeting due “yes at 10 o’clock”, well it’s 20 past and we haven’t seen any one. The young lad got on the phone – “oh it’s her day off”. Great, thanks for letting us know, so is she the only one capable of taking the meeting? And to make matters worse it was the person that told us to be there that was the no show! Frustrating, but I was not going to waste more time and appear at 10 a.m. the following day as instructed as we had met enough others that could advise us of what we missed. BASIC, NOT A MAJOR ISSUE! First night and we showered after the long trip before going to dinner – no hot water (and I hate cold showers), ok just a blip, benefit of the doubt, perhaps it’s a popular time and we were just a bit l

We booked through BA holidays and by chance had a Deluxe room. These rooms have a large balcony with sunbeds, which is a bonus, although most of the area was in the shade all day. The rooms are reasonably spacious with ample storage, although a few more hangers would have been handy. The bed was comfy but housekeeping was very hit and miss. We knew some rooms hadn't been cleaned at all on some days and we had to forego cleaning a couple of times as they called at inconvenient times such as when we were showering and getting ready for the evening. The bathroom could definitely do with improving. The shower was very powerful but the cubicle leaked at the base and the entire bathroom floor flooded, drainage in the shower was also very slow. The air con was good. Each room had a safe but there were no instructions as to how to use it (a simple laminated notice in each room would have sufficed). You had to ask reception to send someone up but no-one ever came. I managed to get the key so I could use it without setting a code. Despite being listed, none of the rooms had a hair dryer, you had to ask at reception for one. My wife got one after a couple of days. Food at the restaurant was of a pretty good quality. You had a choice at breakfast from two courses (the choices were the same each day). Lunch and dinner had three courses with a choice of four or five starters, four or five mains and two desserts. The lunch and dinner menus changed every two days. You had to book a dinner slot for each evening the day before, the busiest times being after 7pm. We generally ate at 6.30 and there was always plenty of free tables at this time. We were told we should book for breakfast as well but we never did and it wasn't really necessary. You could choose to sit on the ground floor or the upper floor, we generally opted for upstairs as it was usually a bit cooler up there. Tea, coffee and cakes were available at 3.30pm which was nice. The main problem with the restaurant was the speed of service. We had days where you could be in and out within the hour but others when you could wait for 40 minutes between courses. There was definitely a shortage of staff on some days and some of them seemed to be a bit grumpy at times. The pool area lacked a number of sufficient sunbeds, although to be honest there wasn't much more room available to have many more. There were also deck chairs but hardly anyone used these. The lack of sunbeds meant the inevitable, the early risers had bagged them by 6.30 in the morning! We had to laugh though as on several days there were downpours before breakfast and the towels got soaked. Towels for the pool and beach were provided but we were warned that the laundry service could mean that fresh ones may not always be available. A large area around the pool were taken up by cabanas which had to be booked in advance at $30 per day. These were inevitably popular due to the lack of sunbeds. The condition of the sunbeds, deck chairs and c

My gf wanted to go somewhere warm in February. We both experienced cold February vacations in Florida and decided to look further south, which is how we wound up in Saint Lucia. I’d been previously, some 30 plus years ago, to a Club Med no longer in existence. We are not wealthy travelers and it doesn’t take much to please us, but we’re not exactly budget travelers either. What appealed to me was the price and the reviews seemed, for the most part, complimentary, main complaint seeming to be a wait for meals in the dining room. Off the plane I learned it was a two hour drive to the resort ($120), which I hadn’t anticipated. As we pulled up I thought maybe I’d been a victim of fake positive reviews as the place looks a bit like a spruced up Econolodge. There was nothing special about the room (water stains on the ceiling, slow drain in sink), but the bed was very comfortable, the place was clean, and we had a deck overlooking the pool on the top (third) floor. This resort is not directly on the beach, which is only a few minutes walk away. The beach itself, nothing special, but you can rent a chair and umbrella for $30 and there’s a restaurant right there called Spinnaker’s. The burgers were good. I also got an aloe vera leg massage from a guy named Allen. Downtown is maybe a 10–15-minute walk, very quaint, many restaurants, a couple of grocery stores, a couple of small malls. The weather was great, low 80s every day, a couple of 20-minute rain showers, left as quick as they came. Dinner is served in shifts between 6:30-9 pm. It’s not cafeteria style, like many all-inclusive places -- we were served at the table. We never had to wait long for our food, which was excellent for an all-inclusive resort. They changed the menu every couple of days. We liked the lasagna, spaghetti, and beef stew, and salads. Portion sizes are smaller than the average American restaurant, but we never left hungry. Breakfast was good. The desserts have room for improvement. All in all, Soco House did an excellent job. Their staff was friendly (thank you Ken) and helpful. The resort is all-adult and the lack of screaming children was a big plus. All in all, we got what we wanted: warm weather, a sandy beach, a pool without screaming children, a comfortable bed and good food. We hope to return.

Avoid this hotel if you want a good nights sleep. It is 11.50pm Saturday night and the building works opposite are still in full swing with loud cement lorries delivering every 20 minute or so. The open air restaurant is adjacent to the building works with extremely loud Lorrie’s making deliveries throughout dinner. For such a beautiful laid back country, Can’t believe they are still working at this hour!

Soco House is exactly as it is described by the Hotel. Only slight downside the service was often slow in the restaurant, mainly breakfast. But the staff were all so lovely and smiley it all made up that one critisism. All staff in every area worked so hard to make every residents stay one to rmember.

This hotel would be great if they could iron out a few issues. The good: rooms are spotless, the majority of the staff are super friendly and helpful, reception and restaurant staff are great, and so are the younger bar staff. The food is very good, with a different choice every couple of days. Drinks are very good, cooler boxes givern to take to the beach is a nice addition. What needs to be improved: As already mentioned in previous reviews not enough beds around the pool, having to get up at the crack of dawn for a lounger is not for us! And in the time we were there pool was only cleaned a couple of times, after being brought to management attention. Bar staff, especially 2 older male barman who bring their personal issues to work, have lowered my score, one minute friendly the next just darn right rude! Cutting guests off mid order to talk to someone else or ignoring guests, making it awkward, and could learn from the younger staff! Time it takes to serve the food and drinks at all 3 sittings, one night 2 and a half hours for dinner. Sunloungers and umbrellas given at the beach to guests need to be updated, they have really seen better days! With some improvement this lovely hotel would be a true 4 star!

I honestly don’t mind the beach but I would rather have a pool so when I book a hotel that isn’t beach front but has a pool with loungers that’s what I expect. I’ve been doing the lounger olympics for decades now but never as bad as this. 6am and they are all gone and by 10am sometimes there aren’t even any rickety old deckchairs available. Your 1st option is a roof top bar with loungers but not 1 bit of shade and no breeze so is too hot for most people during the day the roof bar only opens 4pm till 6pm lots of stairs to get to the pool. 2nd option is the beach a 5to10min walk up the road and they give you a cool box with beer if you want, loungers aren’t great brollies are a nightmare in the wind and it’s not that flat and no public facilities. 7or8 rooms on the 1st floor have 2 loungers that people don’t use swap them with the rickety old deckchairs swap the roof top loungers with the deckchairs and you more than double the amount of loungers! Staff are first class exceptional and second to none (except for 1supervisor/manager) Food is Great if you can’t find anything to eat stay at home or go self catering. Rooms and hotel are absolutely spotless. We have loved this holiday, this hotel and the staff and everything about it, nothing is perfect and you can get past little niggles but the lounger issue has spoiled my whole holiday I know it sounds like an over reaction but it really has ruined an otherwise perfect get away.
