Wedmore Place

We enjoyed a great three nights stay at this lovely hotel. Our 11 year old was excited about the pool, which led to a relaxing day just in the sun at the pool. We had a great room. Only for us picky Germans when it comes to breakfast, it was little difficult to find something to eat, esp. for our so . Nevertheless we very much enjoyed our stay. It was the perfect starting point to explore colonial Williamsburg.

Not a 4 star hotel. Room has mold on the ceilings and in tile in bathroom. Vents look like they haven’t been cleaned in 10 years or more. Staff was wonderful and did everything they could to make the stay great. Breakfast was similar to Hampton Inn except they serve you coffee. Hotel was VERY dated and many things need updated. Be aware if you are mobility challenged or not able to crawl into high tubs you might want to inquire what type of shower is in the room. Room 31 has a tub shower combo from the 70’s that is so high I had difficulties getting in and out of it (I’m 5 foot tall and 56 years old.) The bed was very uncomfortable and the pillows are the size of travel pillows. Would not choose to stay here again until it is totally revamped.

Arrived at 940 pm. No staff present. Sign out front saying staff leaves after 10 pm. Manager on Duty number had no answer. After hours intercom rsng no one. Tried to get for 30 mi jtes to no avail. I hope they .ever have a real emergency because no one works there.

The hotel itself is nice although the configuration of the shower /tub is very strange. Continental breakfast was staffed by very nice women and the choices were adequate - coffee, juices, croissants, scones, yogurt, fresh cut up fruit and aways one hot item such as a spinach or ham pastry. Our major complaint was the cleanliness of our room. Housekeeping completely forgot us the first night. The floors were dusty, carpets need to be cleaned, and lightbulb missing. The evening receptionist was great at getting us fresh towels and even offered to make our bed, which we declined - not her responsibility. The next day housekeeping did show up. They brought the missing lightbulb. However they did not even bother to wipe the sink countertop, or vacuum or bring new towels.

We’re hoping our experience was due to recent change in ownership as we overheard at the winery, but I have to say, it was a bit disappointing. It has tremendous potential, but it really needs to be updated. You should probably make your customers aware that rooms (with fireplaces) will be musty and smell like an old hunting lodge. The furnishings were fine, and otherwise the room was clean, but those with allergies should be aware. Bathrooms should also be updated. Staff was trying really hard and were super nice and accommodating, but feel like the place just doesn’t have its act together for the price that you pay to stay there.

Just an all around super experience: charming inn, lovely rooms, friendly and helpful staff, great food and gorgeous winery setting. So close to Williamsburg and wonderful restaurants. We will be back!

Wow 🤩 one of the most beautiful secluding feeling but only 7 miles to Busch gardens or downtown Williamsburg close to everything true winery with restaurant and tastings and shopping on site the hotel looks like a huge English manor house straight out of a movie with impeccable service and antiques a French restaurant for breakfast and a library , pool , spa ,, umm yes this place has everything..did I mention award winning wine out door dinners music and tasting flights free with room oh and each room is unique no two rooms are the same and for all that you would expect the price to be very high but it’s not .

We expected a quaint hotel however experienced a hotel in need of major renovations Floor tiles cracked, old furniture, cold atmosphere, bathroom is small and has inconvenient layout, no food on premises, coffee maker in room dirty Vineyard on premises very underwhelming Very disappointing stay, will not return

What a delight! Lovely room with working fireplace, next to a vineyard, and if you are staying they give each person a free tasting. Could not have been nicer! Perfect for a little stay away. Thank you.
