Fairfield Inn & Suites Columbus East

I stayed one night on a trip and was in the room for less than 9 hours. I woke up with a rash on my stomach and bug debris in the sheets. I was grossed out, and I left a note for the front desk to have the hotel manager (Philip Elton) call me. I waited a few days without any response and then called him back. He implied that I brought the bugs and that he had rented the room out since I left and no one else complained. I thought it was gross that even if guests complained about bugs, they would just rent the room again without checking. Phil said he would put the room out of order and have it checked- which they should have done in the first place. I didn't hear back (again) so I sent a complaint to Marriott, and then Phil finally emailed me back- almost two and a half weeks after I first complained. There are a lot of good hotels in the area, based on my experience, I would stay elsewhere- or at least at a place where they respond to issues faster and with better customer service.

The room smelled a little like an armpit when we arrived, but due to the late arrival that we had we decided to carry on over night. We turned on the air conditioner and I was mildly disturbed by the filth that was in the vent. I understand the vents may not be able to be cleaned daily, but at least once in a while seems pretty reasonable. I am including a picture of the a/c. We finally crawl in to bed and find two tissues at the bottom of the bed! They didn't look used, but still didn't make me feel very comfortable. Again, due to the late hour, we just decided to tough it out and go to sleep. In the morning I go to take a shower and find several hairs in the shower left over from the previous guest. All of these things combined to make me question if the room ever got cleaned between guests. Couldn't wait to check out in the morning and find another hotel!

Road trippin and stayed here overnight. It was comfortable and the hotel is near shopping and eateries....I've included some photos...the shower in our room was great, nice water pressure and hot water from the nozzle

This was the only hotel in the area with Double Beds. We happened to be in town the same weekend as graduation at Ohio State. Checking In/Out of the hotel was an easy process. The Front Desk Agents were friendly and efficient. There's a convenient store located in the main lobby across from the Front Desk if you forget something or need a snack. The room was spacious, but needs to be renovated. The TV takes a long time to change the channel and there are not a lot of selections. Breakfast was served in the lobby area and consisted of: juice, coffee, waffles, eggs, oatmeal, yogurt, fruit, bagels, muffins and cereal. The main hallways and stairwell were dirty and seemed to be neglected.

The orange photos are old so we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived after a long drive to find that this hotel has been completely renovated. It looks gorgeous, modern. We were welcomed by friendly staff, our room was clean and the free breakfast was great. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay!

I had a wonderful stay at this property! The hotel is newly renovated with all the amenities needed for a relaxing staying while away on business. The staff was extremely professional and hospitable. Will definitely stay here again next time I am in Columbus.

After reading a review from December 2013 about the cold pool and then reading the hotel's response, I booked this property as a pit stop on a long drive. We are Marriott Gold members and choose Marriott properties whenever possible. Having said all of this, my kids were very disappointed that the pool was VERY cold and the whirlpool jets barely functioned. The outer vestibule reeked (and the lobby smelled also, just not as bad) of smoke because people were smoking very near the door. We didn't have an ice bucket and I tried to call the front desk for one. No answer, so I walk down to the desk and ask for one. I am given what I assume to be an ice bucket insert, lined with a (trash?) bag. I return to our room and notice that there are little hairs all over the exterior of the bucket and bag- like someone had their hair trimmed??? UPDATE: I completely overlooked the ice bucket that was indeed in the room. I will confirm that the "replacement" was not an ice bucket like the one that is in the room. The door didn't fit well to the frame of the door, leaving a gap that allowed a fair amount of light and the sounds of the hallway. The tile threshold from the room to the bathroom was loose and tipped every time it was stepped on. The good: The location is good for purposes of travel. Abundant and decent restaurant choices, as well as Target, etc. The evening front desk person was pleasant and seemed to be interested in resolving the pool issues.

This hotel is currently under renovations. The lobby is covered in plastic and you can smell paint fumes during the day. The pool was closed. The staff also informed me that they are not equipped to provide a mobile key. The staff wore regular clothes and no name tags. They were super nice and helpful, but it was hard to know who was staff if they weren’t behind the desk.

I travel a lot. It’s without question the worst hotel I’ve stayed in, in many years. Dirty, noisy, leaking shower, crazy blue light IN THE HEATER UNIT blinks all night! Front Door doesn’t close properly. Toilet sounds like a freight train when flushed. Yuck!
