The Red Lion

Has potential to be better! This has the potential to be so much better. It needs some money spending on it and looks as though it was lovely ‘back in the day’. The staff are friendly & helpful, the people running it are pleasant enough. I’m guessing it’s brewery owned & they don’t want to spend money on it? Also, the locals seem to be happy with it. Menu very standard pub with limited vegetarian options. Food was in generous portions but was very ‘greasy cafe style’. The bathroom was extremely cold due to having no form of heating in, the room was big with 1 radiator which was insufficient for the size of the room. It needs painting, new carpet & updating a little. The sash windows could do with a vacuum to get the dead bugs out and the silicon around the shower block could do with redoing to get rid of thick black mould. 1 sachet of normal coffee with 6 decaf! It was tidy, but the bed was uncomfortable & I wasn’t very rested the next day. I feel it’s barely scraping at the 3 star ratings!

Lovely country inn I used the Red Lion for a one night stay after attending an event in nearby East Kirkby. This is a lovely character property that feels nice and rural but is well connected by road. The room was a good size, with a 3 seater sofa, desk and chair and two chairs and small table by the window in addition to the double bed. Also, plenty of storage and a lovely view out over the garden. The bathroom could have done with a bit of TLC and the very small wall-mounted TV might have been an irritation for a longer stay (but I didn't really need it). And the enormous breakfast was delicious and certainly set me up for the drive home (and beyond).

My rice was cold and chillie didn’t taste of anything my wife’s lasagna was strange tasting tomato soup was also very strange and roll was warm and soggy , but the worst bit was the flies there were so many at one point we had 7 on are table 3 landed in my dinner just put me off completely in general the place needs a good clean under tables were full of grim my chair had a broken arm rest and the place was very cold in general as well I really wish I hadn’t bothered going in but you live and learn and won’t be going back . Reading other reviews it seems people are more interested in portion size than quality shame as exterior is beautiful

My friend & I had both eaten here before but quite some time ago so after deciding to drive out here from Lincoln we were very pleased to have made the trip. Having booked beforehand, we were greeted by a very friendly lady who showed us to our table & took our drinks order a few minutes after deciding on what to have. Our meals chosen she returned to take our meal order…my friend chose the Vegetarian Chilli & I chose the Vegetarian Chilli in a jacket potato. Unfortunately, she stated that they did not have any Chilli so we were left to decide on our second choices. She returned a few minutes later saying the Chilli had arrived so both settled on our original order & so pleased we did. Our portions were very large, fresh & so very tasty…best Veggie Chilli ever! Highly recommend…. Neither of us could manage a dessert which was a shame as we saw quite a few being served & they looked fabulous! The staff were happy, welcoming & friendly making it a totally delightful lunch & we will, no doubt return soon. Reasonably priced excellent food served in a warm friendly atmosphere… what more could you want!

Visited lunch time 15th July 24, this was not our first visit but last time was such a good meal we had to give it another try. Meal choice was again very good with specials as well. Quality of the food is good and sizeable portions. Service was friendly and efficient. Good selection of beers, wines and non alcoholic. What’s not to like. Give it a go I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
