Ye Olde Bell Hotel & Spa

Fantastic meal this evening at Ye Old Bell. The steak pie and steak burger were top tier. Lovely setting in a cosy room. Staff are very attentive. Shout out to Ethan the waiter who Looked after us all evening. Would recommend to any family / Couple looking for a nice meal in a great setting.

Stayed three nights on business. My room on the second floor was spacious with two queen beds and plenty of storage. The wooden floor was extremely creaky as was the corridor so I could hear other guests walking around. The bathroom was a reasonable size, but the sink was tiny and the lighting quite dim which wasn’t conducive to shaving. The restaurants were busy each night and while I didn’t have dinner there, breakfast was excellent. It was table service with helpful and cheerful staff. The fruit was really fresh and I had porridge two days which was nice. On the other morning I had the Eggs Royale which was really filling. There is free parking for guests. I’d happily return for a leisure trip.

We stayed here for Valentine’s Day and had booked the twilight spa package which was £280 and included a nights stay in the hotel with breakfast included as well as a 3 hour spa session with supper at the spa The spa session and the food at the spa were amazing, it was clean and well looked after and the staff there were all helpful, we will definitely be coming back to the spa again! Unfortunately the hotel itself was abit of a let down, we stayed in room 65 which rather then being ‘antique’ and ‘luxury’ was more dated and tired, the room was actually quite clean but the carpet had multiple dirty marks on which it appeared no effort had been made to try and remove them and the room itself could just do with a freshen up, if we hadn’t booked the twilight package and had paid the £205 for the room alone I would’ve been very disappointed. We also had the breakfast included in our package which was equally as disappointing, the toast which was meant to accompany our breakfast arrived at the table around 10 minutes before the actual breakfast appeared meaning it was stone cold by the time the food had arrived, the eggs were undercooked and snotty and the breakfast itself was just very underwhelming for the price of £19.50, I would save your money and go for breakfast elsewhere. We will definitely attend the spa again but we won’t be staying at the hotel next time! :)

We booked the taster menu experience & overnight stay. All I can say is what an awful experience. £150 for the meal , completely not worth it, usually on taster menus you get told what each dish is not here you don’t , it’s plonked infront of you and that is it. As for asking if you want additional drinks , they don’t bother with that either. £6 for a bottle of water Room was missing bulbs in lamps , dirty windows , very uncomfortable pillows , no outside lights working. Breakfast the following day , sent back as eggs weren’t cooked . Waiter stinking cigarettes as he leaned over me. No manager available at a weekend to discuss these points with . Really bad experience for us & not a place we would recommend to there or return ourselves .

Lovely place Absolutely stunning venue. Great place and facilities in a period setting. I struggled to sleep for two reasons, the rooms were so warm and when I opened the window to cool down, the road noise was terrible. Could do with air con or climatic control but I appreciate this may be a challenge for a building that is likely listed.

We experienced the tasting menu on Friday night, it was a wonderful evening with our friends, the food was excellent and the service from the waiting staff and bar staff was very attentive and made the evening prefect. Thank you so much for a very special evening.
